For context, working in the North Dakota market or even Minneapolis is NOT the MSM. At the local level real journalism and journalists do exist. As for the Post? It is most definitely one of the “stars” of the “show”. 2 Quote

He is not going to write an article on hearsay or rumors and UND was not going to disclose any information. The Mo State coaches do not need facts to figure out what is going on with Otis. There is no way these rumors would not have gotten to those coaches. What take that risk on a guy and jeopardize your program and university’s image? No facts, hearsay, rumors - gotta be a column by McFeely in the works - especially if he can slant it so it paints UND in a bad light. Quote

You do not know how lucky you are to haveThe Forum….I read many on-line newspapers and IMHO The Forum has the most accurate and non-partisan. I also read several other Forum newspapers….all equally well done at their local levels. Trust me, you would NEVER see a MPR article in the Mpls paper. Walter Cronkite is gone and has not been replaced. Quote

There is no way in hell the coaches didn't know about this and continued to play him. There is no reason to either defend nor condemn anyone. We have no idea what the accusations are. We have no idea of timelines. We have no idea of how it initially played out, who made the decisions, nor why. What I believe is that Coach Feeney at Moorhead HS worked hard to help a kid who had multiple challenges. UND FB took a chance on the kid. The story at HS level was that he was a “good kid” and was responding to the positive influence of Coach Feeney and the Moorhead staff and teammates. It seems to me, that regardless of the details, the kid failed to keep focused on his goals and didn’t seem to understand that he let down his coaches and teammates past and present. The sexual assault issue is serious for the alleged victim and the accused. The law doesn’t allow UND to release information. A sports reporter with any integrity would respect that. Normally, UND would turn the information over to legal counsel and follow advice of counsel. I doubt we will know for sure the details of the incident nor the timing of when information was available to UND and legal authorities. At this point in time, it doesn’t matter. The kid has moved on. UND made an effort to help a kid and it failed. Had the kid been a fourth string extra point holder, I would hope it would have been handled the same. I would assume nothing. I also don’t care what others think. It doesn’t help the kid, the alleged victim, nor UND to speculate. If the alleged victim was raped, then it should be dealt with by legal authorities. If the victim doesn’t wish to put herself through the trauma of a trial, then I hope she has the resources and support system to help deal with the trauma. 14 Quote

How do you equate too much caffine and sexual assault????? Not even in the same ball park. Oh FYI too much caffine guy didnt play anymore. Sexual assault guy did and had numerous other infractions. Just saying. Quote

People like you are the reason more females do not report sexual assault. Shame on you! I'll put this as tactfully as I can, believing all women are telling the truth, would be as ignorant as believing that all men are telling the truth. There is a huge grey area in there, and each case is different as it involves different types of people. Personally, I would hope all women would report their assault and be honest about it. I am 100% behind holding people accountable for their actions. Unfortunately, there are those out there that aren't honest and have the nerve to make false accusations for a variety of reasons. False accusations can be just as traumatic and life altering for an innocent guy as an assaults could be for a girl. This is by no means intended to say accusations should not be made when an actual even occurs, just that an accusation made cannot be immediately accepted as the Gospel truth. I know when I was in college I had someone question me and a friend for simply helping another friend (who was black out drunk) out of a bad situation with a creepy guy, and getting her back to her dorm. We were then questioned by her BF as though we had done something wrong because she couldn't remember what had happened the next day. Ultimately we tried being the good guys, getting her out of a bad situation, back to her dorm where she was safe. Like I said, there is a lot of grey area and the point is to not jump to conclusions based on initial comments, accusations or questions. Thankfully, about a week after this all took place something clicked and this gal remembered the night a little clearer and that we had helped her out and taken care of her. Not all guys are good, but I can say from my own brief and minor experience, that even having 1 or 2 people question your intentions is awful. Can't imagine people who are falsely accused of something and have there lives, images, futures, etc. completely destroyed. 6 Quote
