This is such a lazy take.
All coaches make calls fans don't agree with.
Some work, some don't. But it is pretty easy for fans to "forget" the ones that worked ended up working out for the team and rely on hindsight to show how "right" they were on the ones that didn't. Not to mention constantly beating a dead horse after the fact...

down 3 scores in a playoff game with about 8 minutes left.......

going for with the lead on your own 25....

double triple reverses when you only need a couple yards to salt the game

timeouts before you run a play after halftime....

Not necessary a lazy take in the context of what it will take to get us to the next level.  If Bubba doesn't get better as a game manager we won't make the jump.  Sadly, in my opinion, based on his body of work Bubba will not change or improve.  And it's not just calls fans don't agree with - some are horrible mistakes that almost no one not named Bubba agrees with.

Not sure where to put this, but NCAA has changed the recruiting rule limit.

Now instead of 25 max each year the number is unlimited while maintaining the 85 limit/ team.

So, if a team has 30 players leave in a year due to graduation or Transfer Portal, it can sign 30 players.

Guessing it will have an even bigger impact as well.
85 is scholarships.
Roster limit is 110, as of the first day of class/first game. After that I think it goes up even further or the limit disappears.
I would expect this means you'll see a lot more PWO offers by the FBS schools and them being more aggressive in cutting "dead weight" in the upper class ranks. Not to mention gives the more room for transfer portal players.

Based on information today, UND needs to go to SIU with 2 wins.  After last fall, its not hard to see UND hosting Abilene Christian with 5 losses.  On the flip side, get the offense going out of the gate, the defense fills the holes, and we could be hosting Missouri State with 3 wins.  Wish it was September already.

Very good read. My main reason for optimism after last Fall was the low turnover on the lines. To reiterate, you lose from Fall to Spring

• D-Line: 
  • Seguin (Starter)
  • Lickfeldt 
  • Hudson (True Freshman)
• O-Line:
  • Ghadaksaz (Starter)
  • Waletzko (Starter)
  • Langstaff

That's not nothing of course, but replacing 6 total is relatively low.

In Coaches defense, UND showed consistently last year that they didn't have the OL that could get them the couple yards needed in situations where the opponent was expecting it.  See red zone stats and failed 1 yd conversion vs NDSU for one specific example of many.

Not sure Ghadaksaz was much of a loss as a starter either. I was never overly impressed, but I'm also not an O-Line guru.

As I am every year .... I'm really looking forward to some UND football, and I am optimistic. Seems to me there is a little more justification for it this year. If (and that's a big IF) UND can take a step forward from last season, they could be a very good football team. It can't be overstated just how close UND was to have a very different record, with so many one score games that came down to the last drive. Part of this will be better execution, part of this will be better coaching, and certainly we needed to add some talent in some key areas.

I know the 360 guys graded RB as a downgrade, which is fine because Otis could be a dynamic player, but the rest of the room absolutely stepped in when he was out. I'm just not that concerned unless injuries build up.

WR is a little more of a question mark to me. There is plenty of talent with the possession guys, but as we have needed for so long, will we have a speed, and even if we have a speed guy will Schuster be able to get him the ball? OR if Schuster can't get the deep ball going can QV improve his accuracy? It would be a cool wrinkle to have your short yardage QB turn into your deep threat QB too. I'd rather have one strong QB who can do it all, but I'll take what we have.

I could go on at each and every position group, and I certainly don't want to wish summer away, but can't wait for some Fall football.

As the trend of the tough yards continued in predictable situations I thought we'd start to see a little more play action last season.

I'm getting the itch too. Enjoy college game more than NFL. I'm assuming we'll get all games except Nebraska on espn+. I'm starting to wonder how to view the Nebraska game on TV. Do I need a subscription to the Big Ten Network? Will it be on B1G+? Time will tell I suppose.
