Here's your answer:
https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/6621008-UND-has-29-athletes-test-positive-for-COVID-19

So not only are all those athletes now in quarantine, but after contact tracing, anyone who meets the definition of close contact with them has to quarantine for 14 days. How many players would actually be able to practice? You're going to lose whole position groups or your whole offense or defense if you follow the CDC guidelines. On top of that, you can test players on Monday and hope you get the tests back by Thursday or Friday to play a Saturday game. If there is a positive and that player has been practicing all week, how much of your team are you going to lose to the quarantine rules and who's left to play the game.

Again, all of this is laid out very well by the UNDFootball 360 guys:

On top of that, here's the guidelines UND would have had to follow to play Kansas State:

Why would any of those teams want to schedule the Bison? Lose, Lose, Lose situation. 1. If they win who cares about an FCS win, 2. if they lose how embarrassing, and 3. Why pay a FCS team when there is no money coming in from ticket revenue, the Bison have fans but is it enough to boost the TV payout?

Bison fans need to get off their high horse and get another hobby because unfortunately Fargo is a one trick pony.

So is there still a chance? https://www.wsj.com/articles/can-this-man-bring-college-presidents-to-their-senses-11597696478?mod=djemBestOfTheWeb

If you can't get to the story because of a paywall, the gist of it is that Justin Fields at Ohio State is leading a movement to get the Big 10 to do an about face and reinstate the FB season. And it's not just him. Parents at other Big 10 institutions, including Michigan and Iowa, are urging the reinstatement of the season. It seems the Big 10 has been less than transparent on the final decision to cancel the season. No one knows the tally of the vote---or even if a vote was actually taken by the presidents of the Big 10 institutions.

Your two comments seem to contradict each other. Either your first paragraph is true and Bison fans are speaking truth about not being able to find teams, or your second is true and that makes your first paragraph unnecessary.

I have no doubt that many schools were contacted. Why would you doubt that, it isn't exactly a fantastical comment.

The quote from ML is either incomplete or contradictory to earlier statements. They already admitted there were teams willing to play, NDSU just didn't like the price. That's different than 3 not willing to play (especially since there was supposedly one lined up) and considerably different than the narrative that teams were "scared".

Rest of the story-

........of the 100 schools that declined 95 laughed their ass off while the other 5 didn't think their facilities could handle that amount of piss on their streets.

It is all just a mess.....

I've never bought the idea that teams are actually scared in the literal sense of the word. From a risk/benefit standpoint though, NDSU is a clear example of risk outweighing benefit for most FBS teams. FBS teams schedule FCS teams for a practice game in most cases, especially in the case of the upper echelon P5 teams. They want a team that they can pound and have the starters play a few series' into the third quarter and sit down. NDSU will come in expecting to win and would play hard for 4 quarters even if they were behind by a large margin.

This is a non-starter for most P5 teams that have a legitimate shot at the CFP.

So I don't and have never believed that Alabama is afraid of NDSU, but there is nothing to be gained if you're Alabama so why even play the game?

Bison didn't try a home and away with the Fargo Invadors, yet.  Maybe reach out to the Lingerie Football  League.  I feel you could of reached out more to convince everyone NDSU is the only team that wanted to play this fall.

I hear the puppy bowl is looking for opponents.

And congrats NDSU Administration for holding on to your season a little longer than others to play that game, you helped solidify the notion to your fans that every other football team in the world is scared to play you.  Well played.

Why aren't they playing that one game?

UCA
Jacksonville State
North Alabama
Multiple FBS teams who agreed to a game but NDSU "claimed" they were low-balled

The more info that comes out, the more it was obvious that NDSU was just delaying cancelling their season to try to appease their fan base.

Not sure I see the point in going through all the hassle it would take to play one game.

So they plan on restarting fall camp and all the testing?
Are they going to look into the "senior football fund" at Chubbs that boosters donated to when players thought they were done playing? No NCAA violations there I'm sure...:whistling:

Sorry folks, just another way NDSU football remains on top and relevant in this area while UND sits at home and wonders what if....... For the next month all you will hear is NDSU football

This.  Really rubs me the wrong way that they will be getting the extra practice time, and UND backed out of a money game.

There will be a fair share of negative press (believe it or not) that say this game shouldn’t happen. I am skeptical that it actually will. So sure you may be hearing about NDSU football the next month, the focus will be on COVID testing and positive test results, and whether this game should be played.
