We will never know. Also we never would’ve known how long he would have stayed at UND if he was highly successful. heck even Danny would be gone if he wasn’t so loyal to UND. There is a reason he was appointed heir ….. Why do we need to hire a coach that is going to be a UND lifer? If they move on because we are successful I see that as a win. 3 5

Answer--"Right here are at UND" Thanks for coming in, we will let you know. 4 1

There is a reason he was appointed heir ….. You’re right, we’ll never know what would’ve happened if DeBoer was hired by UND in 2014, but hard to imagine Eastern Michigan in 2014 was a significantly better position than HC at UND. He still made his way to big time as an undefeated coach for Washington despite going to Eastern Michigan (1-7 in the MAC in 2014) … he’s an absolute program-builder. Point is, shoot for the stars. Go for a program-building superstar who wants to be a FBS head coach in 5-10 years. 9

Guess it must be something in the Dakotas. Last year Nielson got an extension coming off a 3-8 season with a 42% winning percentage. Stiegelmeyer got plenty of extensions while stuck between that 5-8 regular season win mark. 3

Don’t they do contracts year by year down there?

Not sure if it's (still) true. Somewhere in the SEC (Mississippi?) state law limits public employees to 4-year contracts.

I believe they can go up to at least 3 years (unless they have further modified it). To that point, SDSU could have moved on from Stiegelmeier multiple times over his two decades with no buyout. 1

I heard it on an XM radio station...so it must be true. I bet it's that much over the time they need to make the payout. My bad 1
nodak651 Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 Really curious to see all your thoughts on this. Assuming UND could get him, and at a price within our budget, would you guys want him?

zonadub Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 Look for someone on the rise, not someone in the twilight of his career. 4

The Sicatoka Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 If a Bohl were to ever coach UND I'd bet Aaron before Craig.

90siouxfan Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 If the cotton top was a seasoned NFL or upper FBS coach that could elevated the program and mentor the coaching staff under him, heck ya! other than that, youth is something that would be a plus in my humble opinion.

Mama Sue Posted November 16, 2023 Posted November 16, 2023 Is it true Texas A & M is offering $76M for a new head coach…. Not sure how many year commitment. That is insane.
