You’re missing the point. You come onto a UND message board and immediately start posting about nothing but the “overage Canadians” argument that Gopher fans have been blasting UND about for years. There were many posts on earlier in this thread talking about how much better UMN was playing and the skill difference at this point in the season, by many UND fans, myself included. But you ignored those and only replied to a sarcastic post about the old Canadians. That’s not coming on here to discuss hockey, that’s coming on here to troll.

I'm not defensive, just showing the other side of the coin. Southwest metro was probably a better term, but you understood my point.

Incidentally, two of the best Canadian overagers in NCAA right now are former recruits who switched after we pushed back their arrival. Rizzo and Halliday.  We just have the policy/ability to make kids wait until they are dominating juniors before they come, regardless of where they are from.

Spicer will be fine.  He was legitimately probably a year a way from when he should have started his college career, but he's going to get a lot of time with Duluth, and they've got a good coaching staff.

As for the past weekend, I personally thought UND deserved the win Friday, and MN Saturday, but so be it.  I was really pleased with the way the guys played on Friday, especially after last weekend, and given the competition.

Minnesota is going to be a good team this year, everyone knows that.  They will be especially good at home, on the huge ice sheet.  If you're playing on Olympic sized ice and you have talented defensemen who can move the puck, it's literally impossible to put sustained pressure on them.  There is simply too much ice.  But I thought the guys played very solid positional hockey all night Friday.  Other than Jandric losing Knies on the OT goal, I couldn't find anything to criticize.  I thought the shot disparity was overblown a bit, especially on Friday.  A lot of long shots, with wide open lanes for DeRidder to stop.

I thought Minnesota played better Saturday, but they also showed their immaturity, and UND took advantage of that.  I really liked Jandric's game Saturday, and I like the look of our power play with Blake on the wing opposite Gaber.  Teams were catching onto the Gaber shot last year, but this will make it a lot harder for them to cheat that way.

Can't wait to get to Vegas Wednesday.

Why is it UND2 and UND3 (the HEA and ECAC grad transfers, you know, the 'soft' leagues) are the two who know how to deal with M89? UND2 gets full marks for putting him in the blue paint grave yard with the hit captured on Twitter.

UND6 was flat bad Friday; I'm liking what UND2 did Saturday.

If the call on UND25 is a major, there should be 3 or 4 majors called in every NCAA game. 

If we see Minnesota again, it won't be on a glacier. < evil grin spreads across my face >

M77 probably learned the rule book from Ben Clymer (of the Bally announcing team), who not only didn't know the rule book but went ballistic "with sprockets" (WTH?) when refs sent M77 to the box.

Gopher fans are the king of "I know I'm right" often vehemently, when the truth is opposite.   If I had a nickel ...

* me (new to Twin Cities in 1982), celebrating after the Sioux won in Providence.  random Gopher fan: "Why? We won!" /arguing ensues

* random Gopher fan: "we have the most NCAA championships".  Me: your team is only 5th on that list. /anger and arguing ensues

Of course, take off their Rodent jerseys and most are really fine people, but hockey brings out the irrational.
