what would have happened if we would have gotten a top 8 seed with the nickname? had to go to the winner of the play-in? that would really suck

They would never give us a top 8 seed in that scenario. One must remember there is not an agreed formula that the NCAA must follow, they choose with humans.  The NCAA still might have a Fighting Sioux hangover!  Remember the snub we got last year of not getting into the playoffs? I'm even concerned this year about getting snubbed out of a Final 8 seed in a couple of weeks.

If Bubba doesn't win coach of the year I say that's another example of how UND will always be an outsider in the Big Sky and should bolt if given the right chance. Also if we finish #9 and on the road that is proof that the Big Sky Rep in the room isn't going to bat for us (two years in a row).

Coach of the year, E. Wash is also doing things right?

But a #9 seed along with playing on the road on the first weekend of the playoffs, that be a slap. Probably something more going on there than the Big Sky Rep could help us with.

With all the o-line woes this year, couldn't help but think of how it might be had Grady stayed. Would have been a blast to see and I think it would have alleviated some of the run block woes, but alas, was not to be.

Aplin has been very good. And for next year and beyond, this years struggles with injuries gave lots of O-line guys important reps. And with another off season of workouts and spring ball, we should be solid for next year. The extra practices and games that come with being in the playoffs is huge also. If I could play any position on a football team, I would be an offensive lineman!

Losing Coe next year will be a blow. He has been absolutely fantastic this year along the line. Going from center, to right tackle, to left tackle. He's done everything asked in just a single season.

Hopefully the staff is reminded, thanks to Coe, that OL recruits don't need to be 6'5". Nothing wrong with having a little bit shorter guy who is strong as hell and sturdy like him. What a beast.

And for those that want to bash transfers, if we didn't have him this year we wouldn't be where we are.  Sometimes they work out, sometimes they don't.  In Bubba's transition we needed to take a chance on a few transfers to fill gaps and this is one that was huge for us. I would guess transfers will be a lot less going forward now that Bubba has been able to start to build depth through good recruiting.   Some people, or maybe it was mostly Bison folks coming on here not sure, talking badly about how many transfers we had the past couple of years just don't get it.  To me it was only logical to fill short term gaps with transfers so we could get to where we wanted to sooner rather than later.

There's nothing wrong with transfers. Every school does them. Some are graduate transfers like Coe and Braden Hanson. Others are community college kids that might not have had the grades initially out of high school. Every school will pick some of those up, including the big P5 schools.

Also speaking of transfers, don't forget Mercer or Clive Georges, both of which were transfers.

Didn't Coe have a connection with a coach at UND, I think having a history and connection with a coach makes a difference in "taking a chance" on a transfer. Also wasn't he a fifth year exception - we've had good luck with those rather than someone who is tranferring because they don't like their current coach, want more playing time - that often means there is baggage.

Coach Knaupf. So the o-line coach knew exactly what he was bringing in.

I hope this offseason we pick up another OL and a QB transfer with two years of eligibility left. We need better depth behind Studs in case he goes down...which is likely the way Rudolph calls plays during the middle of the season.

I wonder what Grady was thinking as the TEAM celebrated a Big Sky Championship.  He missed a great opportunity.

He was more than likely wishing he was on the field with them.  But, he really didn't have a choice and is probably where he is needed most.

It's pretty much insane to have the top 3 spots on this list.

Especially given how poor we were last year when teams could just chuck the ball up in the air and our guys many times wouldn't even be able to make a realistic play at the ball.  Gotta give a lot of credit to the coaches for coaching them up, and the players for putting in the work.

What is even more catchy is the entire list will be back next season.
