Esoteric
Both of these games were entertaining and lessons were learned and lessons reinforced. I liked the new combinations in lines 1,2,3. I believe these lines are better use of the players skill set. This week hopefully these lines will jell in practice.

An ot win tonight goes in the win column which helps. It is not a win in the traditional sense. A regulation win would have been much more helpful in the Pairwise. You get credit for 2/3 win and 1/3 loss.

Popular Post jk
A couple random observations. I like that Johannes, Berg and James don't mind heading to the net and shooting. Fancy is nice and we have a good dose of that this year, but there's a place for power moves and ripping a shot. I also like that Livanavage doesn't like to sit back and get things set before heading up ice. He gets the puck and goes. Hard to believe he's just a month into his college career. 1

Home/Road weighting: For purposes of calculating a final RPI, games are weighted based upon whether they are home or road games. Road wins and home losses are weighted by a factor of 1.2, while home wins and road losses are weighted by 0.8. FWIW: RPI is by far the main driver of the Pairwise.

Yes it's not a full win for RPI but all those 3 things are used to determine which teams win the comparison against each other.

I understand your point but It is almost meaningless in the big picture. Not completely but pretty close. The difference between a regulation win and an OT win is far greater than any minimum benefit from counting the OT win as a win on your record. Usually the Pairwise mimics the RPI with some minor flipping because of head to head. I find it hard to get too excited about the OT win when we should have won in regulation. It is better than losing in OT.

Still coughing up the puck in our own zone too much, but the support to move the puck up ice was solid tonight. BU is as-advertised. Highly skilled upfront, but they aren't exactly great defensively. Their GT had a big weekend. Until the very last play, I was thinking "Blake has sure been quiet".
