Never lost lead in the game. Growth as a team. Confidence in each other and coaches. Against poor refs. This was a mega success all in all. Expand .67 for an OT win x 1.2 for a road win = .804 of a win + a Quality Win Bonus for any team beaten in the top 20 of the RPI(assuming BU is in this at EOY). In other words, no one truly knows how much of a win this is until the regular season ends. 2 1 Quote

Expand True. The Gophers made him a non factor in the semifinal game last year as he had to defend more than he likes to. He was with team USA at the World Championships last year and they primarily used him on the power play and when we had an offensive zone faceoff. He was outmuscled and beat for the overtime goals in the semi final and bronze medal games. He definitely needs to add some muscle but he is beyond dynamic with the puck. Quote
The Sicatoka Posted November 5, 2023 Posted November 5, 2023 2-1 against the B1G and 1-1 against a likely top 3 in HEA. 1-0-1 vs CCHA 1-0 vs AHA Quote
jk Posted November 5, 2023 Posted November 5, 2023 Not doubting Hutson's brilliance, but is he that much more dynamic than Perunovich was at Duluth? Injuries have been an issue, but he's 25 and has played 21 career NHL games. P is listed at 5'10" 175. H at 5'10" 161. He is a fantastic player to have on your college team, but you eventually have to defend. Quote
jk Posted November 5, 2023 Posted November 5, 2023 If ever there was a face-off to win, it was to start OT. Was nice to see Hutson and Celibrini on the ice when Blake scored, but it would not have been fun to see them with the puck. 2 Quote

Would be nice to challenge for a high #1 seed so we will be put in Sioux Falls in a year in which we aren’t hosting a regional and Missouri is the next closest regional. 2 Quote
SiouxScore Posted November 5, 2023 Posted November 5, 2023 Needed to get out of there with a split and got it. Certainly some breakdowns that need to be cleaned up. Way too many careless giveaways. Liked the line combos a lot more last night than what we have seen. 1 Quote
Godsmack Posted November 5, 2023 Posted November 5, 2023 Did anyone else have issues with the volume of the BU play by play guys? It seemed muted but whenever they’d go to commercial the volume was really loud. (We’d gotten the ESPN+ subscription) 1 Quote
Popular Post 90siouxfan Posted November 5, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 5, 2023 It seems to me that ESPN+ just streams existing broadcasts and have no influence on the product you see. 5 Quote

On top of that, the announcers seemed to be almost whispering during normal play by play, but then went full volume yelling when BU scored. It was an incredibly uncomfortable broadcast to watch and listen to. 2 Quote

Popular Post siouxfan512 Posted November 6, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 6, 2023 Overall a solid weekend for UND Hockey. This team just looks different than last year. To keep it simple, they pass the eye test. Still stuff to work out and I'm sure they will continue to gel and get better, but tough to not be happy about what they have done so far and with a pretty tough schedule. I like what I've seen out of this revamped D core. Great balance of experience and young talent. Blake is a dude! That guy is so much fun to watch. Can't wait for Perron to really get up to speed, he is going to be really fun. Bummed we couldn't get the sweep, but thats a good road split against a pretty good team. That being said, we were the better team pretty much all weekend. Some stupid penalties on Friday night, but the officiating was absolutely terrible on Saturday. Some of those call on us were ridiculous, yet they let BU go with 2 or 3 different boarding no calls. Road to winning the NCHC starts next weekend, unfortunately its at Duluth. For all of you whining about the BU broadcast, get ready for a serious clown show. I didn't care for the BU job, but it wasn't the worst I've ever seen either. They were totally homers, but also complimentary of UND, the program and the players. I don't know if Duluth has changed up their team at all, but in the past their PxP guy has been ok, but their color commentator is basically a drunk, life long UMD fan.... just terrible. 2 4 Quote

This was my assessment of the weekend, summed up. When we got to a puck possession game, we were stronger and more skilled. Celebrini and Hutson are both all-world, but if you take them away, no one stood out all weekend. With the exception of the last 7 minutes on Saturday, we HEAVILY out possessed that team 5 on 5. I would love to see them in the tourney. 2 Quote
fightingsioux4life Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 I posted this after the Goofer series. I will post it again here. Because I think the best is still to come with this UND team: "You play baseball coach for a moment. Two players run to first. They both have the same time, but one has perfect form, the other, lousy form." Which one do you pick? The one with lousy form. Why? ‘Cause teach him the right form...and he beats the other guy. Check back in April to see if I am right. 3 Quote
