Six hours later, it's more than 1,000 positive tests. It's amazing what having access to tests actually does to the number of infected patients. If we don't have tests, we can't have official cases. yababy8
CC just cancelled on campus classes through at least April 15th https://www.denverpost.com/2020/03/10/colorado-college-online-education-coronavirus/ “Students should plan to remain off campus from Spring Break through at least the end of Block 7, and possibly the rest of the academic year,” university officials wrote. “Students, when you leave for Spring Break, please take your essential belongings — including medications and items needed for study — with you now. You may wish to take all of your belongings.” Hopefully they let the team travel to North Dakota.

streetsahead
Schloss retweeted something last night about Zac Brown Band cancelling its Detroit show and the Little Caesar's Arena people telling employees to expect more cancellations. Not exactly great news for the Frozen Four. Although the no fans thing would still be an option in the case of a hockey game (no sense in playing a concert to no fans)

Although the no fans thing would still be an option in the case of a hockey game (no sense in playing a concert to no fans) Michigan had its first two confirmed cases yesterday and both are considered metro Detroit, as reported by local news sources post-news conference with their governor. If there are implications for the Red Wings game at Little Caesars on April 4th, which might not be determined for weeks, many would think the same of the Frozen Four. It'll be interesting to watch this develop.

UNDfaninMICH
The president of Michigan State University just announced suspension of in-person classes until April 20, at a minimum. Some of his credentials follow: "Dr. Stanley has served as chair of the National Science Advisory Board for Biosecurity, which advises the U.S. government on issues related to the communication, dissemination and performance of sensitive biological research. He was a member of the National Advisory Allergy and Infectious Diseases Council at the NIH and a member of the NIH director’s Blue Ribbon Panel on the National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories. He also served as an ambassador for the Paul G. Rogers Society for Global Health Research and has received an Honorary Doctorate in Science from Konkuk University in South Korea. Morning Professor! I don't really have time to engage in the circular debates and reading comprehension exercises today, so in the immortal words of crusty golfers everywhere "Keep your mouth off my ball!" And also, of course, and always: WASH YOUR HANDS, AND GO SIOUX!!! I'd like to hope it doesn't get any worse than playing the games in front of empty rinks, but I'll let the experts in epidemiology and emergency management make those decisions. Sweethockey
Most nursing homes and even hospitals will deter visitors from seeing people in their institutions this time of year because of infectious diseases like the common cold, influenza, and others. Does everyone have enough toliet paper at home to make it till summer? Might need to use stock certificates instead of the JC Penney catalog when the toliet paper runs out.....

Siouxperfan7
It's just amazing the response to the Corona Virus compared to the H1N1 in 2009. I am not saying the Corona Virus isn't something that shouldn't be taken seriously. Just the response to both given the number of people affected is shocking. To date, 938 people in the United States have been diagnosed with the Corona Virus with 29 deaths. Back in 2009, the number of people in the United States infected with the H1N1 virus was 100 Million with 75,000 deaths and 936,000 hospitalizations. Does any one remember anyone saying in 2009 to cancel events, play sporting events with empty stadiums, and people reacting like they are today? Just seems odd that the hysteria in 2009 was not even close to what it was in 2009 with numbers that blow this viruses numbers out of the water!
