siouxfan512 Posted January 4, 2020 Posted January 4, 2020 Watching the Wild pregame and Michael Russo mentioned that a college game will likely be a part of Target Field hosting the winter classic next year, with UND being a likely possibility given how involved the Twins and Dave St. Peter are in making the Winter Classic happen in Minnesota. Sounds fun to me! Thoughts? 1 Quote
WiSioux Posted January 4, 2020 Posted January 4, 2020 Sightlines will be terrible at a baseball stadium. Quote

Outdoor hockey with a massive UND crowd. I just wonder how they can work that out with scheduling since they already have the Nashville game next year. 1 Quote

SIOUXELEVENS Posted January 4, 2020 Posted January 4, 2020 Give up one home game and play it at target field against the gophers. Done deal. Quote
AlphaMikeFoxtrot Posted January 4, 2020 Posted January 4, 2020 Is the Hall of fame game opponent already decided? I'm assuming they still have a monopoly on that game. Hard pass on it though. Over-saturating the novelty games is a mistake, and the Gophers made a deliberate decision to let our rivalry cool down. Let's just stick to taking over 3M(tm) arena. 2 Quote
Sweethockey Posted January 4, 2020 Posted January 4, 2020 That would be Pedo State in Nashville. Quote

hky Posted January 4, 2020 Posted January 4, 2020 Not to be a party pooper, but hard no from me. Been there, done that in Omaha. Let's not do the Goofers any favors. Why give up a home game at the best arena in college hockey to play in a baseball stadium. 15,000 plus will travel to any NHL city/rink. And on New Year's, I hope we are missing guys for World Juniors. 1 3 Quote
Wilbur Posted January 4, 2020 Posted January 4, 2020 If tickets were decent it'd be something I'd go to, but there is zero chance of tickets being decently priced. Quote

Sodbuster Posted January 4, 2020 Posted January 4, 2020 I'm sure the Gophers would love not having to play 2 games at the Ralph next year. Quote

Not loving the possibility of UND continuing to use its side of home and home two year series against the Gophers at destination locations, then UND playing at 3M every other year. If played at Winter Classic, that would make what, one home series against gophers since formation of NCHC (could definitely be wrong on this)? With possibility of not extending this series beyond existing contract, that could be one series at the Ralph in >10 years potentially? And I thought Lucia was the one trying to squash this rivalry. For as long as it works, it makes X’s and O’s business sense, but for season ticket holders paying an extreme premium already, it’s a raw deal for many to take the marquis series out consistently and then bank on them also traveling to support a destination series instead. 1 2 Quote

jdub27 Posted January 5, 2020 Posted January 5, 2020 Omaha was an absolute blast. Target Field would be as well. I don't know how they get the scheduling to work though outside of a hefty check to UND for the possibility of giving up a home game. Quote
siouxfan512 Posted January 5, 2020 Author Posted January 5, 2020 Just because it would be in mpls, doesn’t mean we would play the Gophers. There are other possibilities, IF we were to get the game. Quote
LuvHockey Posted January 5, 2020 Posted January 5, 2020 (edited) Went to Omaha. Visit was fun. But I'll never go to an outdoor game ever again. Worst game I've watched live in 40 YEARS of watching hockey Edited January 5, 2020 by LuvHockey sent before finished Quote
SiouxVolley Posted January 5, 2020 Posted January 5, 2020 It will help UND recognition immensely in MSP. Home crowd for UND as the Gophers don't draw. Quote
Blackheart Posted January 5, 2020 Posted January 5, 2020 Don’t give away home games; especially to the Gofers. 4 Quote
Siouxperfan7 Posted January 5, 2020 Posted January 5, 2020 Doesn’t need to be the Gophers. Given that we play them at the Ralph, it likely won’t. NDSU proved you don’t need to play a school from Minneapolis to play a home game in Target Field. I think a game against Michigan would be a better option. Place would a sea of green. Omaha was a blast. This would be even better. Plus the ice would be far better given it is a game in Minnesota and not Nebraska and the NHL is involved in preparing the ice. I’m all for it!! 2 Quote
SiouxForever Posted January 5, 2020 Posted January 5, 2020 I have interest as long as it's not Minnesota too. Quote
nodak651 Posted January 5, 2020 Posted January 5, 2020 If UND get's >50% the ticket revenue, sure. Otherwise, no. Quote

U can’t see anything live from ur seats. No thanks! 4 Quote
