shep Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Brad E. Schlossman @SchlossmanGF 1m1 minute ago Hearing that Brad Berry is very likely to be the next UND men's head hockey coach. I won't believe this until GF Hockey confirms. 1
stoneySIOUX Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Makes the most sense without question...........not saying it is the best hire possible though. My thoughts exactly. I don't hate it. It's definitely the most stable pick.
AZSIOUX Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 As long as Guentzel doesn't bring the "Minnesotans only" rule, I'd be happy to have him. Eades and Hastings would also be solid. Hopefully Berry has what it takes to step up. Ha the roster is heading that way as we speak along with the nodak kids with few Canucks sprinkled in. He shifted recruiting last few years big time
DamStrait Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Blais recommended Hak when he left - I wonder who Hak has recommended?
siouxfan512 Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Posted these names in the other thread. UNDs open record search could stop some candidates from applying..... remember the football search. Top Choices Dave Tippett Why don't we steal one back from the NHL? Enrico Blasi ( I know this guy doesn't have UND connections but he is a fantastic coach. Not sure if he could be taken from Miami but Faison should give him a call.) Sandelin Jackson Berry Next Tier Eades Blais (Not sure how many years he has left) Darkhorses Frank Serratore Mike Hastings Gwoz Mike Eaves I would NEVER want Mike Eaves to be a part of this program. That would be pretty much the worst move UND could ever make. I don't think this name should even be thrown around as a joke. 3

UNDvince97-01 Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 My dear lord, now Faison and Daniella Irle have TWO "Bubba" head coaches in the athletic department?!?!? Heads are going to explode.
siouxfan512 Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 My thoughts exactly. I don't hate it. It's definitely the most stable pick. Agreed, not an exciting pick, but it makes sense, and the guys certainly has experience. I always liked Hak, but I do hope that with a new coach we can get a new look on the powerplay, because I always though that was one area where Haks system struggled. We'll see, should be an interesting week or so, until they make an annoncement.
homer Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Blais recommended Hak when he left - I wonder who Hak has recommended? I was just typing this same thing. Hak had to give a recommendation, Berry would be an easy transition for the program.

MissSioux85 Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Schlossman: Herald source: Brad Berry to be named head coach at UND at 1 p.m. today.

Agreed, I think Blasi likes where he is, unless there was a substantial offer on the table. I just don't even see this as an option.

UND-RedSox fan Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 With how quickly the athletic department is moving according to Schlossman, I'm guessing Buccigross had bad info with his tweet. 1
UNDvince97-01 Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 ? Sorry for the inside joke.... Both didnt like Schweigert's nickname "Bubba" when they were hiring the football coach position.
crb1 Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Not pumped with the Berry pick but it's not the worst either given the circumstance. 2
gfhockey Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Bubba is a solid name Faison should go back to the buffet
MafiaMan Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Take a guess who was in charge of the PP? But Hak was the head coach so it was his fault!
SiouxScore Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 I like the Berry pick keeps things nice and stable. Hopefully Jackson will be back with him and it will be interesting to see who they go after for the other assistant spot.
UNDColorado Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 When I saw the news this morning the first name that popped into my mind was Berry. I believe he will do a fine job. Dave Tippitt also intrigues me but doubtful give the recent updates from Schloss.
Vegas_Sioux Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Just playing devils advocate: how long ago did faison know seems really quick to have a coach resign at what 830 and the new one is going to be introduced at 1.

Agreed, I really hope and would expect Jackson to stay on; but who will be the new assistant?

Popular Post Ray77 Posted May 18, 2015 Author Popular Post Posted May 18, 2015 Get sandy back Our phones are backed up Donors want to know Folks we aren't sure yet Sandy is at the top of our list Has done more with less Shows how out of touch gfhockey is. Not only was Hak leaving a shock to him and the GOBC, but they're ready to announce Berry as the new HC today and you had no clue on any of it. You guys are still calling potential coaches, and Faison already has his replacement. It's like the tail is chasing the dog with you GOBC'ers. 5
