And when I say getter-setter-shooter no player is 100% any one of those, they all have a little of each but are better at some things than other. So, centers: Jamernik, Schmaltz, Costantini, McLaughlin, Ness. Yes, I put Matteo back to his natural center. Compared to a year ago that's an embarrassment of riches at center (because Senden can play it also). Now start surrounding them (and what they are) with what they are not, meaning ... Jam with Senden and Hain (Senden gets, Jam sets, and I hear Hain likes to shoot ...) Schmaltz (setter) with Gaber (shooter) and Caulfield (decent getter) Costantini with James and Portz <-- lots of speed in that group McLaughlin with Blake and Kunz <-- not a fan of two freshmen on a line, not at start of season Ness with Albrecht and Stinden/Mongomery <-- last year's third/fourth line this year's fifth? Probably won't see those right away. True freshmen at center in October is not common. There are going to be battles for ice. My biggest concern: Jam and Schmaltz need to get even better at draws. I like those lines. Maybe swap Costantini and Caufield (although I don't remember if one shoots left and the other right). I'm also concerned about draws. It seemed like a weakness last season, at least for Jamernik and Schmaltz. The team was .556 for draws, which isn't bad. The last time the team was around .500 was '15/'16 at .502. That year turned out OK.

If we lost the draw, Nick Schmaltz would just chase them down, lift the stick, take the puck and go the other direction with it...only saw that happen 6-7 times a game.

Agreed, though one could argue that without a key faceoff win in the national semifinal game, that team may not have made it to the title game.

Only thing that would make them better would be that the player would skate in the jersey they wore at the time they were playing. Would be sweet to see old Eddie skate around with the old 87 Sioux head logo and those sweet brown goalie pads!!!

Note to UND: the terms of your agreement with the NCAA on "Fighting Sioux" include language that you'll use the name, from time to time, as a way to preserve your ownership of logo(s) and trademarks. What better way than to have Belfour and Greene wear their jerseys! 2

The Sicatoka
Move in day for residence halls is Saturday. I'd guess official rosters when everyone has officially matriculated.

SiouxForever
Any update on the transfer goalie in the summer skates? He's going to be the back bone of the team if he can come in and play well. Should be an exciting year!

stoneySIOUX
Not gonna lie, I'm loving this team on paper. Got every element we need. Assuming upperclassmen taking steps (of course, not a guarantee), I'm very happy with this squad. Can't wait for the season to start.
The Sicatoka
Bold prediction: Not a lot of sewing (re-sewing?) need be done for the "C" and "A" on jerseys going into this season.
The Sicatoka
Random takes perusing the new roster: Somebody get Owen McLaughlin a sandwich ... stat! Between grad students and fifth years, six roster slots; throw in traditional fourth year seniors, nine slots 16 of 27 are under six feet tall I track a stat that @PCMalways enjoyed: Linear Density (wt in lb divided by ht in inches). If you can skate better than average and your LD is ~2.7 or better it's really hard to knock you down. There are 7F, 4D, and a G at 2.68 or better. I suspect that's coming with an older squad this year (testosterone kicking in on age 20+ males). Jackson Kunz is mucho-grande hombra (LD is 228/75 or 3.04!)
