I find the doom and gloom funny after a bad loss to a very good team.  NDSU has better personnel then many FBS schools!  I don't want to downplay the loss too much but if anyone thought we had a real chance today was fooling  themselves.  NDSU has better players at almost every position right now.  My take is probably off of most on the message board but UND can be a very good football team this season if some things get corrected.  We are very erratic on defense, most of the big run plays were directly related to guys not playing consistent gap control defense. This is a very fixable issue!  On offense, we had a fairly large number of plays in which the timing was off by a lot.  Also a very fixable issue!  I think we will see improvement going forward!

Bubba has now been the head coach for six years and his best season is an embarrassing playoff loss. I don't think anyone can question his love for UND, but he may not be the man to lead us to football relevance.

In regards to ndsu and quality/talent of players.....they have 9 players on the two deep that were walk ons. Say what you want but they seem to develop the players to another level.

In regards to coaching/winning...Bubba is not the guy.  His way of coaching to a certain extent was fine in the big sky but will not cut it in the mvfc.  He’s outmatched.

Reality set in yesterday.  Bubba brought an experienced team to Fargo against a new coached young and mostly inexperienced ndsu team.  We all know the outcome. Yesterday was his chance to take them down and gain positive attention. If it looked like they belong on the field is one thing but they were outmatched at every personal level.

Well consider the source... standing in line for security... the lady behind me said,”We should have pretty good seats. They are right by the 3rd down line.” Seriously, some comments do not warrant a response. Finally a man corrected her that the tickets were by the 45 yard line.

I for one, was very disappointed to se us once again punt when we were already down and it was a short yardage situation. Should have taken a few chances to keep himself in the game

When did that happen? It was 4th and about 15 on the only one I recall people complaining about here

Good luck dealing with Trey Lance for the next 3 years.

Hey thanks we appreciate it.  Nothing like picking the wrong thread and being an insufferable bitch about the outcome of the game.  Act like you've won before, cause you have.

With his running style he might get hurt long before then.

That’s what you are hoping for. He will learn to take less hits. 3 more years

Good player that will give teams fits.  Lots of learning opportunities from yesterday

When UND scored it looked like they were feeling pretty good about things and excited.  They also didnt have a whole lot to get really amped about other than that.

Will give Fargo props for game day experience

hiwever i never had as many threats shoulder bumps in my life as yesterday.

Well in rebuttal a group of UND fans stopped at my tailgate and had nothing but positive things to say like 99% of visiting fans

But like any game there are idiots so if you had a bad experience I apologize for the drunk morons

And yes..lots of hockey jerseys yesterday Oshie and Toews (sp?)

And i thought Noah Wanzek looked like a really good player, he seemed like the backbone of the offense and made plays when they needed it.

Honestly, one of the most stupid, ignorant statements anyone from UND can say (although it gets said a lot). Definitely a pet peeve of mine.

Zero place for this at a football game.....zero.

I wouldn't call is doom and gloom. I think most hoped (I) after rushing for what was it 5 yds in 2015 against NDSU and getting handled, we'd be more on par with NDSU 4 years later. Its reality.  We'll see how we measure up next week. NDSU is a FBS level opponent right now.

NDSU is NOT an FBS program. And if they ever moved up for real, they would find that out pretty quickly. They could win the Sun Belt (which is pure garbage) and have some success in the Big 12 (lots of bad programs in that conference). But anything above that, they would get worn down by the depth and athleticism of FBS teams and their 85 scholarships. Look for some "Bring on Bama" or "Bring on Clemson" nonsense from the Moo U faithful in the coming weeks and months.

So in summary of all the comments on here, if we just get better players, a better coaching staff with better schemes, a better practice facility, a better strength and conditioning program, and a better nutritional program, we’ll be set.

Sweet!

Well, yes. #1 is UND needs better players, obviously. UND is not going to win a conference championship with the roster as is.

Now, the other points are basically ways to get the better players.

Which is priority #1 is the question. I vote HPC Phase II. Different coaches - unfortunately - is not too far behind that.

UND still has enough talent, though, to have a winning season in 2019 and make the playoffs. NDSU will be most talented team UND sees in 2019.

Go Hawks! Beat Sam Houston!

No one sincerely wants Bama or Clemson, don’t be so dense. I don’t know why GFCC fans can’t accept the fact that NDSU may be an FBS... no is an FBS caliber opponent. Hence why they beat the last 6 FBS opponents they play.

You also forget that if NDSU moves up they too get 85 scholarships? I know math is hard, but that seems like a pretty easy one.

All irritating things aside, very impressed with Trey Lance, his skill, his athleticism, his ability to read a play and his execution.

Would love to see us get someone even close to that. Nothing against the QBs on our roster, but the past few Bison QBs are just a different caliber.

So should we get his Heisman bust ready? :silly: This guy making the Heisman "watch list" is beyond ridiculous, particularly with the kind of athletes in the top echelon of FBS.

Honestly, it is a little concerning to read some of these comments. "Would love to see us get someone even close to that", "we won't play a better team than this again this year, so don't worry", and so on. It is like we are now accepting of the idea that all we will ever do is finish 6-5 every year with no playoffs and most of our wins will be against bad teams. It is very easy to get "used to" a negative situation and then accept it as the "new normal". It is human nature. But it is also a very dangerous trap to fall into. And we need to avoid falling into that trap.

If you have any sort of success in the Big 12, I think that would make you a pretty decent FBS program.

Obviously NDSU is not FBS.  But NDSU is certainly better than most FBS teams(lots of them aren't particularly good) lately.  They'll play a few more of them over the next few years that will provide a different challenge than what they are used to seeing.  That'll be interesting to see.
