tnt
With the Rattlesnakes in Western North Dakota, maybe "Sidewinders" would fit a North Dakota theme. Of course, since some say Sioux translates to "Snake in the Grass", someone would take offense.
Sodbuster
You'll never guess where I got it , but what about Sodbusters? Kinda works for North Dakota. Does anyone else have it? (For the record, I mean Division 1 or professional)I, for one, love it!

Goon
Roadrunners? Are there roadrunners in ND? I don't know, I think it's too cold. How about Honkers?
Fetch
Kenmare was the Honkers - I always liked the name - we played them in BB in HS back in the 60's - No school there anymore
zonadub
Roadrunners? Are there roadrunners in ND? Roadrunners are skinny pheasants. Pheasants are just as likely to take off running instead of flying, like roadrunners. Bodies are vaguely similar. Pheasants are more colorful, especially with the green head. Sioux Falls' Northern Legue baseball team uses it, but no colleges. Not my favorite, but better than most names thrown around on here. ScottM
Roadrunners? Are there roadrunners in ND? You're more likely to find them in the southwest such as in Arizona and New Mexico.

Siouxphan27
You're more likely to find them in the southwest such as in Arizona and New Mexico. That doesn't stop people from liking the Roughrider nickname, even though they were from the southwest as well.
MafiaMan
One of the all-time classic ND HS nicknames is the Rattlers of Glen Ullin. Yes it was! Man, what an incredible boys basketball team in the 1980's too. Great nickname. Not to be outdone though by the nickname of the school that beat them in the 1986 Region 8 title game: Bantams. runaroundsioux
I'm glad to hear that - they musta been close to shutting down at one time ? No, Kenmare has always been healthy. Don't think their K-12 has ever been below 200-250.
