Under Berry that is not a given. Under Berry if they don’t lose in the first round of the playoffs it’s because they didn’t qualify for the playoffs. Quote
nodakgirl93 Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 The very talented BC team couldn't score a single goal in the most important game of the year last season. It happens. 1 Quote

Move the puck constantly. These teams of late, seem to want to be rid of the puck immediately after entering the o zone. Usually that leads to a turnover. The forecheck hasn’t quite been there in recent years. If we don't have an identity, teams have a harder time game planning against us. 1 Quote

Godsmack Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 Was it the 2018/2019 season we had so much trouble scoring goals? Out play teams, have the puck in the opposition’s zone for inordinate amounts of the game, yet struggled mightily to score. Quote

AlphaMikeFoxtrot Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 Couldn't watch, but reading the game story everyone quoted says they played well but didn't break the seal. Begrudgingly confirmed, or vehemently denied? Quote

Popular Post Wilbur Posted October 20, 2024 Popular Post Posted October 20, 2024 I didn't see any of the game, but it seems like the group was fine with the effort, just "didn't get one to go". From what I've been told we were fine in the net and our young d unit played okay. We need guys like Kunz to show up and get on the scoresheet. Given a top 6 role and has been a ghost. 6 Quote

farce poobah Posted October 21, 2024 Posted October 21, 2024 Mankato has a terrific offensive output from their top line. If Alex Tracy finds consistency they will be tough to beat. Quote

No, when they allowed the extra paid coach, the volunteer was no longer possible, hence Jason Ulmer not getting to remain to help with faceoffs. Quote

I remember when people mocked the gophers for being a great October, November team, and now our season is over because they didn't produce offensively on the weekend? I think this team has more room for growth than last year's, simply because they have more really young freshmen that hopefully can make a big impact the second half of the year -- Boisvert, Swanson, and Emery. 1 Quote

fightingsioux4life Posted October 21, 2024 Posted October 21, 2024 Mankato may end up being a much better team than predicted. And I am not going to overreact to a game in October (it is a long season). That being said, this is the type of inconsistency that dooms you in the playoffs. They have plenty of time to fix this. But the sooner the better. Quote
The Sicatoka Posted October 21, 2024 Posted October 21, 2024 It's an "R" month. I'd be more frothy over it in a "Y" month because that leads to failures in the "H-L" months. Young teams gotta learn. 2 Quote

This is what's confusing, almost all members in this thread thought it was a sh!tshow; but listening to Berry, Hennessy & the players they thought they played a very good game. Either Berry & his players are describing the game accurately, or the members here are. "I thought we played close to a 60-minute game," UND coach Brad Berry said. "I thought we came out hard, dictated play for most of the first period and I thought it carried over. The problem was we didn't get our first goal. I thought if we could have gotten that first goal to give us a little momentum, we'd be on our way. But it was a lot different than (Friday) night as far as how we played. I think if you play that way for a 60-minute game, normally, we'll get the result. Tonight, we didn't." "Honestly, I thought we played a better game than we did (Friday) night," alternate captain Jake Schmaltz said. "We couldn't get that first one to fall, which ultimately we needed to get some momentum. It wasn't going our way tonight. It's frustrating. It sucks to lose. It's our first loss of the regular season, but I think if we keep playing like that, we're going to get a lot of good bounces down the road." Quote

The first step in solving any problem is recognizing that there is one. That's what's most concerning about the comments above. 1 Quote

Berry & his players were honest about how poorly they played in the Augustana game; but you're saying they're in denial or bs-ing about Saturday's game at Mankato? Because I didn't watch either game, I have to rely on the feedback I get from the team & the members here. Quote
