If the weather and field conditions are good in Frisco MSU will put up a lot of points. Touchdown Tommy is the best player in the FCS and it isn't really close.

Do any of you have friends who are Bison fans and can not understand why you will not cheer for them in the title game?

I have some who make it sound like I'm giving the Nuclear Codes to the Chinese because I never cheer for the Bison.

I always argue that NDSU winning helps their recruitment of both football players and students in general, and since UND competes for a lot of the same students, it puts UND in a difficult space when they have to compete with NDSU being successful. If we both have the same number of natty titles for the year in football (ie 0) it’s easier to compete with them

I had one take offense because I told them I’d rather cheer for no one before I cheer on the bison. He said he cheers for UND hockey…… smh

Yep. “Cheer for the state of North Dakota.” No thanks…

Honestly,

That crowd is probably like 60-80% of fans.

The other 20-40% are more hardcore.

There's a lot of casual fans...females are less hardcore in general.

Of course not exclusive to North Dakota.

It's why NDSU should move up to FBS and build a new 35,000 seat Fargodome.

They could get the whole state (besides a small minority) behind them.

They conquered D2.

They conquered FCS.

It's time for them to tackle a new challenge.

My takeaway:

UNDs current QB is nowhere near those of the FCS semifinalists.

Qb is a very very important position. To say otherwise is foolish. Need to be able to recruit and develop it but also need to utilize transfer portal if able. Will be interesting to see how Schmidt and Fruechte approach this critical position (and also will determine future success or lack thereof for the program).

Okay, but no state money should be involved. It's sports.

While that's partially true, NDSU's enrollment has been dropping for a decade and UND's has been climbing.

Thats what happens when you focus your efforts on Education vs Sports.  There is no comparison between the two campuses.  And when the STEM complex is complete the gap will get wider.

New buildings do not equal better education, if that was true you guys would be conference champs in all your sports with all the  bragging about the new athletic buildings you have.   Your opinion on campuses is just that your opinion.  Enjoy Bubba 2.0 - 3 quarters of them are Bubba coaches.  You still have his recruits and if you think you're going to hit a ton of home runs in the portal after losing the best 2 players on the team you're dreaming.

To be fair, these facilities are just getting finished. Also, other than DBs coach the whole defensive staff is getting replaced which had been our biggest issue. Still worried about the QB position and WR room, but I think WR will continue to get addressed in the portal.

Well no it’s not an opinion. ndsu enrollment is declining and UNDs is on the rise. No opinions needed

And yet it seems everyone says the Hawks season was game after game of offensive genius.

Saying the defense is a bigger mess than the offense isn't saying the offense is "genius".

Dan, let's see:

"New buildings do not equal better education, if that was true you guys would be conference champs in all your sports with all the  bragging about the new athletic buildings you have.  ....."

Couple of points:

1)  Are you talking about education or athletics?  Your first phrase starts out talking about eduction and everything else is a rant on athletics.

2)  I was talking about educational related campus updates.  A newly remodel library to study in makes a difference.  A new union for student lead associations and activities helps attract and build future leaders.  New and improved classroom help learning environments.  New dorms just make for a better overall experience.  Students are noticing those differences.  In addition to building updates, we are talking about new programs and endowed faculty positions.

You couple those updates with the lofty ambitions of the new school President and you can really see the momentum building on campus.  In 2020 UND President Andy Armacost outlined his vision as "One day the University of North Dakota will design, build, test, launch and fly satellites from Grand Forks."  Since then, the following:

  • Harrington Hall updates - a newly constructed space named the Mark & Claudia Thompson National Security Corridor, establish a endowed faculty positions in national security.  The corridor will house laboratories and classrooms to facilitate work on initiatives such as satellite testing and design, quantum computing, cryptography and unmanned aircraft systems – all vital to the nation’s security.
  • As the Space Development Agency’s Grand Forks Air Force Base facility comes online, the military space agency and UND have several new arrangements to share infrastructure and brainpower.  The SDA wants a steady supply of qualified engineers and technicians who can solve or even anticipate the problems the agency will face as it plans to launch and maintain hundreds of satellites from Operations Center North.  This will mirror the other agreement with Auburn University’s Huntsville facility, near the Redstone Arsenal, where the space agency’s Operations Center South is located.
  • In the near future, UND's new three-story 96k square foot STEM Complex. The $163 million building project will impact over 40% of UND's student body.  This speaks to the growth of UND's programs.  UND’s College of Engineering & Mines has grown by as much as 400% in the past decade, Pieper said, and it’s time for its campus facilities to match its ever-expanding profile.

"Your opinion on campuses is just that your opinion." - OK

"Enjoy Bubba 2.0 - 3 quarters of them are Bubba coaches." - Staff has not been announced yet not how you can draw this conclusion yet.

"You still have his recruits and if you think you're going to hit a ton of home runs in the portal after losing the best 2 players on the team you're dreaming."  - I think once that staff is in place.  We will see what the portal brings.  As a general rule, successful FCS programs need to recruit and develop players.  And that is one the of primary changes from day 1 per the new coach.

It’s almost as if the students are choosing the place with the superior campus? Odd. They must all be online only students or something right @Bison Dan? Member that? How’d that work out for NDSU?

I don’t think SU is going to get new stadium they haven’t even been able to get Dome updated when they have voted for tax increase to remodel the Dome. I know Fargo die hard fans and media want to move up to FBS but rest of country is not much interested because of geography and not enough tv market or population base to create opening for the Bison.  I look at FBS since they went to playoff system there are way to many teams at that level I don’t see expansion of FBS but number of conferences being dropped for the playoff system leaving them to come back to FCS. The thing for UND is we need to catchup to the top 5 or 6 teams in FCS with our football  program and it’s going to take work and money to get there now.

For once I agree with you.
