2026-2027 ND High School Hockey Thread
Johnny Five replied to Wilbur's topic in Non-collegiate sports
In more important news, the Fargo Force have applied for a AAA program. FARGO — The Fargo Force organization has applied for 18U boys, 16U boys, 19U girls and 16U girls teams in North Dakota to help support the state’s youth hockey players, the team said Thursday. https://www.inforum.com/sports/prep/fargo-force-apply-for-full-season-teams-at-boys-and-girls-levels That should about be the nail in the coffin for ND HS hockey. -

Back in the day I served on the BHB hockey board. When I first got started I had an old time tell me "good luck with that. the players change, the parents change, but the culture stays the same." Kinda gotta laugh at that looking back...I think he about nailed it. lol. -

Gutted meaning FR leaving. Not having Bantam AA or girls 15U because they'd rather ride the bench in boys or girls HS. Not referring to the administration (one could definitely question the need for one of the big ass salaries) or numbers. -

Pilot Mound...my bad. Some AAA academy in Manitoba. Small community. I don't get it, but whatever. Hockey makes people crazy. -

Well if that's the case there's a handful of Bismarck families taking the cake by sending their kids to f*cking Pilot Mount, MB this year. -

Sounds like it's Tre Kautzman for Legacy. Been on the staff with Mario and then Faragher/Davison. Also sounds like Bismarck Hockey Boosters is getting gutted. Many Fr (boys and girls) wanting to move on from the club, even if it means JV hockey. Sounds like Bantam AA and 15UA might be hard to pull off. -
Could happen, but the trailers are packed and they leave town as soon as the graduation hangover is gone. See, it can still be fun to talk sh*t. Maybe that's just me.
-
That's as made up of a theory as UND hockey players all being 25 year old Canucks. FCS is great football and highly entertaining. And the MWC will be as well. Fun stuff.
-
Lol.... I think UND is stacked and very well could be playing Montana State in the title game and it wouldn't hurt my feelers if that happens. Hope that's OK.
-
It's actually an infatuation with Izzo's podcast and Fargo media obsession thread.
-
Unfortunately, it will probably only sell 10K more than that LIU Thursday night barnburner.
-
Yeah he said the same thing about JMU and etc leaving.
-
So the 1st time back for Herder in months - on a Fargo based podcast - and they shouldn't talk about how different it is that NDSU isn't FCS? Lol. Dom thanks you for tuning in.
-
Hahaha...it's Izzo's show FFS. Must've missed the part where he said he has UND as his pick to win the conference. Gotta love the hate for a show that provides more UND talk than damn near anyone. He's not obligated to talk FCS or UND for that matter.
-
Who's "excites" you on UNDs schedule? SDSU would be it for home games in the MVFC now that NDSU is gone. Maybe USD if they are still relevent, which at times is questionable. Illinois State or Youngstown on certain seasons, but do those foes really fire up the masses? JMU's schedule is ironically full of former FCS teams...which tells us all we need to know about the current status of the FCS, where maybe 5 schools have a chance to win a title this year (or one, Montana State). To each their own when it comes to excitement, I guess.

Reading the article would help. McFooly's main point had nothing to do with money, it was regarding rules limiting realignment and super leagues. In theory, creating stability for G6 leagues. No clue if he's right. Probably not.
-
Schlossman is indeed legendary. But when it's football season, these guys do their work. They cover NDSU, yes, but each week in the past was full of FCS coverage nation wide. I highly doubt anyone in the country that is local to a market provides that extensive coverage (or did for FCS). Dom has also done plenty of UND coverage on the podcast, and he stated recently there will be more of that this year for a local FCS angle. I'm guessing Tom Miller and Coach Schmidt will get plenty of air time.

Cheerleaders made me laugh. These 2 are very good at what they do. Izzo's Podcast is a really good listen for local sports and Kolpack is a fantastic writer. The conversation clipped isn't biased whatsoever, just seems like a normal conversation to me but to each their own. McFeeley, yes, is a dipsh*t. He's all about clickbait. I've been a season ticket holder since mid 2000s. We used to have 5 and are down to 2 with our kids moving onto college. I'm not going to JSU the FBS opener, i'll sit at the lake and watch on the TV. Wyoming has my attention but Homecoming would sell out anyway. Other than that...better than Indiana State, Murray State? Sure. Better than SDSU, USD, UND due to regional rivalry? Nah....

Definite advantage for the east teams for scheduling Minnesota teams. I do know TRF is driving out to Bismarck to play both girls teams this year and Legacy-Bismarck is playing Luverne and potentially International Falls during The Lights Christmas Jamboree over the Holidays. It does suck that potentially GF, North and WF won't be doing home and home with the better teams from the West, but if the script was flipped, I'd probably do the same. -

But the dread of being a player and starting football in the heat remains with us all....lol. -

I don't think she's on staff there anymore. Not 100% positive what her career is. I'm guessing Leif will remain on the new staff. I'd be shocked if she is here next year. Put it this way, the new coach isn't the only shoes that need to be filled, and I'm not talking about departing seniors. ND Girls Hockey 101 = get the hell out of here. -

Tim Meyer moves from CHS girls to boys. chs girls will need a coach and let’s just say it’ll be slim pickings.
