I’d say this closes door on Thome staying. I wonder if he’ll head to Bemidji to complete the straight swap.

That’s what seems to be happening from the rumors.
Huge pickup for next season.
Goalie trio of Driscoll Johnson Feeney.  I like it.

Over under on starts by Driscoll set at 30.  And I'll take the over.

I like the fact you think UND will play over 30 games! #screwCovid

Driscoll single-handily changes the expectations for next year.

What I found interesting about Schlossman's article this morning is he doesn't feel Hedquist or Johnson are ready to come in yet. The absolutely ideal situation is if there's a talented Goalie in the portal who has more than a year remaining. You can sell in backing up Driscoll this year and being the guy the next.

There might not end up being a team in the country whose expectations will change more for next year than UND's because of the portal. I'm getting greedy. My updated wish list.

  1. Chris Jandric
  2. Grant Cruickshank
  3. Goalie #2

Absolutely! Was just talking about this last night with a buddy. Losing Scheel felt like a death knell on 2021-22. Then, Weatherby comes back, Sandy comes back, Ford and Driscoll come in and I'm feeling MUCH more confident.

Center went from a big, big, big question mark if Jasper left, to being an absolute position of strength. \

I think we'll get Jandric. Good stabilizing force.

Cruickshank isn't coming here.  This is kind of like hoping Pinto would come back full well knowing he probably wasn't.

You're probably right but do you have specific knowledge on that or just assuming?

Just assuming as I have about enough knowledge when it comes to this stuff as gfhockey does.

In a prospective portal defenseman, would they be looking for more offense or defense minded?

Sanderson comes off as offensive minded but is sound defensively.
Frisch is defense first and opportunistic offense.
Kleven right now seems like a balance.
Moore is offense first (at times to a detriment in his zone).

I think it is wonderful to get Driscoll for next year. This will be tremendous. I must admit though, I don't follow BSU very closely since they are in the WCHA, but I assume he is a good goaltender. My concern is more long term, like the following year when Driscoll is gone, where does that leave our goaltending situation. Do we ride Driscoll all year and not give any of other goalies, whoever they may be. We don't seem to have a good 2nd or backup goalie. Nothing against Harrison but he has seen extremely limited playing time, and that is an understatement, and any freshman will be well a freshman. Just doesn't seem like a great situation in the coming years. We may need to look at getting another transfer for the following year.
