223 of Minnesotas 286 Covid deaths have been in long term care facilities.  Though I'm sure the number of deaths in long term care facilities would have been much higher if all high school activities in the state hadn't been cancelled when they were.

The employees of the LTC facilities often have kids, or in some cases are high school kids, so yeah, the numbers likely would've been higher.  Now what's the result when it's all plugged into the societal cost-benefit formula?  Who knows.

And if the LTC employees don't have any high school kids.....they probably have a friend that knows someone that has a high school kid .........

You Tube shut down the video of those ER docs in Bakersfield calling for the end of shelter in place...if you disagree with the machine, you must be silenced.

i truly feel its time to move on.  Vulnerable and sick, stay home.  Everybody else, phase it in.  Starting now.  What are we waiting for?  A sign?

To complete the conspiracy theory going around on here: The doctors obviously want the shelter in place to end because the more coronavirus patients they treat, the more money they stand to make from the federal government. Therefore it is in their best interests to convince people to go out and get sick.

Just like it was in the best interest of large health organizations like WHO and CDC to make this virus seem like the potential end to society to justify their existence and to try and gain even more funding going forward.  Meanwhile a large chunk of the medical community that actually treat people are taking it in the shorts via furloughs/reduced pay.

“Forcing” then to reopen.  Is Trump also “forcing” drug companies to find a solution to the coronavirus problem?

Has he invoked the DPA to compel them to do so?

Deaths by all causes...Covid makes up just under 5% of all deaths of 45+ so 95% of 45+ who die, die of something else....it’s consistent in each age 10 year age band between 45-55, 55-65, 65+. Way, way less in younger pops.

There are those that will say that’s because of self quarantine...they’d be guilty of flawed logic called post hoc ergo proctor hoc.

We also had a very mild flu season....and kick me for not being very surprised, but if you add flu + covid it looks like a bad flu season....

https://www.foxnews.com/us/minneapolis-tightens-coronavirus-restrictions

there are over 5.5 million people in minnesota and about 43 people not living in nursing homes/assisted living have died from the virus and they are still doubling down on dumb...this is crazy.

The thing is unless the burbs and St Paul follow suit it just makes the other ones still open more crowded.

Just like stores "limiting hours."

Minneapolis has already said their beaches and pools will be closed all summer.

This is their Super Bowl. Again.

Since the flu keeps getting brought up, let's take a closer look at the numbers together again.

The flu in it's worst year in the past decade killed 61,000 Americans across 6 months.
Covid in the past month alone killed 56,000 Americans. This is with unprecedented measures that have not been implemented on this scale before.

Look at death rates if you want to compare 1:1.

USA average crude death rate per 100,000 for flu (2017-18): 17.1
USA Average Hospitalization rate per 100,000 for flu (2017-18):  183

As of April 28th 2020:
USA average crude death rate per 100,000 for covid: 17.9
USA average hospitalization rate per 100,000 for covid:  158
Low level: less hospitalizations, more deaths.

Note that while the numbers are comparable for now, the flu data set is complete. The covid deaths are sill climbing, meaning the death and hospitalizations rate will only increase until the corona season is over. Yes, the numbers are inflated by NYC for both cases. Yes, older people are more likely to die. I am not hiding these facts, but they should not comfort you. NYC strayed only 30% from the mean for the flu and they are currently 644% from the mean for covid.

NYC typically averages 6,000 deaths a month. Of this number, ~360 people typically die from the flu. In the past month, 27,000 people have died in NYC. That is 21,000 more deaths than typical, greater than 300% increase. Only 16,600 deaths were reported as covid. Use your noodle here and think critically on what this means. Yes this is for NYC, but other countries across the world are reporting similar data. There is simply not enough information yet to come to definitive conclusions. It is also not known how this will stack with the flu in the future.

Again, these are just the numbers in this snapshot in time. The numbers which our governing bodies are weighing decisions and planning off of. They don't represent my position.

Yep, we can tell things are closed up over in MN...the parks in western WI are LOADED with cars carrying Minnesota license plates.

I watch the Dark Horse podcast today, and they are to biology professors, and they ripped the video pretty hard..   not so much on the conclusion as the lack of scientific approach and all.

If gyms are allowed to reopen, would that mean college teams will be allowed to begin workouts again on campus if they can do it 6 feet apart?

Not nearly as much in Florida.   Residents of NY State will be fleeing to Florida not only as a tax haven.

Per the CDC as from 2/1 thru 4/25 there have be 45 total COVID related deaths nationwide wide age group 24 and younger. Same timeframe same age group 2.5x as many influenza deaths.

Saw the roll out guidelines for ND. Can have as many as 10 people sitting at a table in a bar (indoors) with tables adhering to the 6' rule but yet they cancelled the ND Legion baseball season (outdoors) already. Chalk another one up to zero logic, stupidity and fear.
