Popular Post MafiaMan Posted April 1, 2019 Popular Post Posted April 1, 2019 It is with a heavy, heavy heart that I announce that our very own sprig passed away this past Friday. I spoke with his son a few moments ago and he asked me to post an announcement on the SiouxSports.com board. HIs obituary is below: http://www.amundsonfuneralhome.com/obituary/timothy-kessler Tim Kessler was one of the biggest Sioux fans I have ever met. I spoke with him many a time at WCHA Final Fives and NCHC Frozen Faceoffs. He was also a regular at our annual Hoggsbreath brunches and I enjoyed chatting hockey with him whenever I got the chance. To the family, as I know you'll be reading this, please know that you are all in our prayers. @sprig , you will most certainly be missed by your friends here on the message board. May God bless you as He welcomes you home. Goodbye, my friend. 35 15 Quote
Popular Post jimdahl Posted April 1, 2019 Popular Post Posted April 1, 2019 Thanks for posting this. I didn't know Tim personally, but certainly knew @sprig, the loyal Sioux fan and a pillar of the SiouxSports community. He was one of the original members, back in 2001, and has been a consistent and prolific presence in the community, liked by all. He will be missed. 7 Quote
fightingsioux4life Posted April 1, 2019 Posted April 1, 2019 Very sad news. Puts my problems into perspective, that's for sure. My condolences to his family. Quote
Goon Posted April 1, 2019 Posted April 1, 2019 The last couple of years, I got to know him better just in passing at the games. He also went to the Sioux Sports Get together at the Hogger during the conference tourney's. Nice guy. I am saddened by this news today. I just talked to him at the last series of the season. Today is a sad day. Quote
Sodbuster Posted April 1, 2019 Posted April 1, 2019 Geez, that's too bad. Only knew him through here but always enjoyed reading his opinions and insights. My condolences to the family Quote
Oxbow6 Posted April 1, 2019 Posted April 1, 2019 Just had some communication with sprig a couple weeks ago. Definitely one of the good guys to ever grace this site. He'll be missed here and at all the UND athletic events he attended. Huge loss to the UND community. Quote
Shawn-O Posted April 1, 2019 Posted April 1, 2019 Sorry to hear this, I enjoyed my visits with him at the Hogg gatherings. God bless his family during this time of loss. Quote

One of my favorite Hogg get-togethers of all-time. UND lost the Friday semi-final (again) in the NCHC tournament and we were all bummed out at this event on Saturday morning. We're all smiling, though - almost like we KNEW that North Dakota would roll to the NCAA title two weeks later... 3 Quote
InHeavenThereIsNoBeer Posted April 1, 2019 Posted April 1, 2019 Really sorry to hear this, only knew sprig from this board but awesome picture/memory MM shared showing him with his granddaughters winning the grand prize. Prayers to his family and loved ones. Quote
The Sicatoka Posted April 1, 2019 Posted April 1, 2019 Wow. I was introduced to Tim once and didn't know he was 'sprig'. My condolences. Quote
jodcon Posted April 1, 2019 Posted April 1, 2019 On any board there's always a few guys who you read every post they make, because you consider their take on things worth your time. Back when I posted here a lot sprig was one of those guys. Prayers out to his loved ones. 3 Quote
gfhockey Posted April 1, 2019 Posted April 1, 2019 Rip sprig I was a charter member under another account. Is it weird his profile says he was online yesterday? Quote

The first time I ever ran into Blackheart in Mankato, I believe the conversation went something like this: B: Hey, are you on SiouxSports.com? MM: I might be. B: What's your handle on there? MM: Well, that depends. B: On what? MM: Well, if you think I'm an OK poster, I'm MafiaMan. If you think that guy's a total idiot, then I'm sprig. B: I'm pretty sure I used that line on more than just Blackheart too. 1 Quote
burd Posted April 1, 2019 Posted April 1, 2019 RIP, sprig. We are all better off having known you in some capacity. Quote

Apparently sprig had a good sense of humor also to be drawn into your larks. Quote
brianvf Posted April 1, 2019 Posted April 1, 2019 Our tickets for the Frozen Faceoff (when at the Target Center) were just a few seats away from sprig and his group. He would always make a point to come over during intermission and talk. Very nice man...he will be missed. RIP sprig. 1 Quote
crb1 Posted April 1, 2019 Posted April 1, 2019 Didn't know him personally but any Sioux fan is a good person in my book and my condolences to his family. 1 Quote
HawksHoops Posted April 1, 2019 Posted April 1, 2019 Over the last several years, I was able to attend a few games (basketball, football and hockey) with sprig. Great man and a wonderful fan. He will be missed. Quote
90siouxfan Posted April 1, 2019 Posted April 1, 2019 RIP, thanks to MM and the family for bringing the news to the online community. Quote

Thanks For the jog down memory lane there MM. i was lucky enough to meet the Sprig at one of the Hoggsbreath brunches...great guy, had a dry sense of humor. Got his contact info from Mafiaman a while back and would make a point of seeking him out before games and during intermissions at REA whenever I was up for a series. Big loss for the Sioux family. RIP Sprig! You were one of the good guys! 1 Quote
Siouxman Posted April 1, 2019 Posted April 1, 2019 RIP Sprig. Our seats at The Ralph are in the same section and I would talk with him at just about every game as well as Hoggsbreath. Condolences to the family. He will be missed. Siouxman Quote
ScottM Posted April 1, 2019 Posted April 1, 2019 So sorry to hear this. "Back in the day" with the earliest version(s) of Siouxsports.com, and on USCHO, Sprig was one my favorite posters about Sioux hockey and other things related to UND. RIP, Sprig. Quote
