OgieOgilthorpe Posted November 25, 2016 Posted November 25, 2016 I think this game will get a good amount of "overall UND fans" that don't typically come to UND football games. The type that are sick of hearing about NDSU, and are glad to hear UND is winning. I think there will also be a good amount of "grey area fans" at this game. There are a lot of these "grey area fans" in our state that like whatever UND team or NDSU team is successful at the time. They go to these games as a social event, and know it will be fun because winning is a high probability so everyone will be happy and having a good time. This is very common at UND hockey and NDSU football games....full of people there just to have a good time that really don't know much about the team. Like it or not, this would be good for UND football and I hope it catches on. Filling seats brings in money. Quote

Right now, Thanksgiving and Black Friday is all people are thinking about. Quote
UNDBIZ Posted November 25, 2016 Posted November 25, 2016 Anyone know how the $25 price point was arrived at? Is that an ncaa decision or is that something UND decided when submitting its bid and is now being held to (even though our bid isn't the reason we're hosting)? Quote
BarnWinterSportsEngelstad Posted November 25, 2016 Posted November 25, 2016 Price per seat in past have been set by NCAA, same price exists for best and worst seat in the arena. Heard earlier in the week that pre-playoff bid only applies to hosting first round games, which we are not part off???? Quote

sprig Posted November 25, 2016 Posted November 25, 2016 Surprised there are so many seats. Maybe many of them going to msg. Quote

I believe every round has a minimum bid (which increases as the rounds progress) which must be met by the host team. However, the highest seeded team only needs to meet the minimum bid in order to host. This differs than round 1, where you not only need to meet the minimum bid but also outbid your opponent. Quote

Bummer to miss the FB game but already committed to NYC trip. I would guess this frees up 500-1,000 good seats between the 40s. Quote

Haven't missed a game all year but the nyc tr ip was already booked. This is what I was worried about. A lot of UND fans bought tickets for MSG and of course some of them also had football season tickets. Looked over the available seats in the Hawk's Nest, and there are quite a few. Also noticed the 2200 student seats in 3 sections (212, 213, 214) are shown as not available but may have many available seats. Lastly Section 217 shows 520 seats blocked off for visiting team and are shown as not available. So, potentially there are even more seats available than shown on Ticketmaster right now. And, of course it is early yet, hoping for many more tickets to be purchased! Quote
Popular Post CMSioux Posted November 25, 2016 Popular Post Posted November 25, 2016 Do other school's fans wring their hands about attendance too? We will probably end the year in the top 30 schools in FCS attendance with an upward trend. It will be what it is, doesn't mean we can't provide a loud home field advantage no matter what the turnout. After supporting the team through the transition this is a reward and it came sooner than many would have guessed. 9 Quote
Popular Post LH Golfer Posted November 25, 2016 Popular Post Posted November 25, 2016 Also going to NYC. BUT I purchased my season seats and distributed them to family. I don't understand why others didn't do the same. 9 Quote
BarnWinterSportsEngelstad Posted November 25, 2016 Posted November 25, 2016 In a way it didn't come soon enough, those were some tough years during the transition. But, you are right, it does feel like it came pretty soon, especially for the rebuilding of stepping up a division. Next few years should be awesome. And, the rest of this season tooooooo! 1 Quote

After supporting the team through the transition this is a reward and it came sooner than many would have guessed. It's another product of comparisons to the backyard to the south. It keeps us on edge on everything, whereas very few other FCS fan bases have to live day-to-day with such stark comparisons staring them in the face. Take a huge historic regional (70 miles away) rivalry and mix it with the meteoric recent success by one side and relative stagnation by the other, and viola!: You have what we have here... always looking over the fence and questioning why we can't have it the same way -- and fast! The glass half-full to this scenario is that few other FCS teams have the same incentive living so close to them spurring them to get better. 8 Quote

Longtime fan Posted November 25, 2016 Posted November 25, 2016 I'm hoping next week will be a big week for ticket sales. Turkey day is over! As someone has mentioned earlier, I expect the NYC travelers to strip at most 1000 in attendance. We can make that up with more students....right!? Quote
