burd Posted February 25 Posted February 25 UND did well to win that. It was a night when many of their passes were just a half a stride off or to the wrong side of the stick. 3 Quote

Sioux>Bison Posted February 25 Posted February 25 James and Blake on a hot streak in March and April would be huge for this team. Nice warm up this weekend, bigger and better WMU will not be giving up like Duluth did on Friday. No reason why we can’t sweep next weekend 2 Quote

Yes, will need to be Denver home series good next weekend against Western who, like CC, is fighting for home ice and to stay up in the pairwise and possibly move up. 1 Quote
petey23 Posted February 25 Posted February 25 Tough game to officiate but have to give the refs credit tonight. After the dive to draw the first power play, they didn't take the bait on the next 9-10 ridiculous dives UMD took. The second period was embarrassing. Quote

To the credit of the officials, the marble theory seems to be going away. The league has a really good group of young officials. Todd Anderson was the replay official tonight, but I couldnt help think of the night at Target Center where he completely lost control. Pionk runs over Cam Johnson, the most obvious running the goalie incident in NCHC history, and he spent the rest of the night calling back and forth penalties because Duluth captain Dominic Toninato had to be restrained on every penalty against Duluth which meant UND had to be penalized in return. 6 Quote

I’d give them more credit if they called diving on some of those. 1 Quote
farce poobah Posted February 25 Posted February 25 Re penalties tonight: * Happy - and a bit amazed that UND gave them only 1 PP. UMD working hard to goad guys into penalties, and we kept our composure well. * Surprised that nothing was called at 20:00 of the 3rd. UMD (Menghini?) should have gotten a couple minors and misconducts for hitting after the whistle. Not to mention all the other garbage. * Very happy that the facemasking major got called. (Without us needing to formally ask for a review.) That was hideous and dangerous. Hoping for supplementary discipline, but not really expecting it. 1 Quote

AlphaMikeFoxtrot Posted February 25 Posted February 25 Was Jake calling them out for diving? He has in the past. Quote
RedFrog Posted February 25 Posted February 25 Any word on why Albrecht took Perron's spot on Berg's line in the 3rd? It was likely after we took the lead and so maybe it was for defensive purposes? Quote
Irish Posted February 25 Posted February 25 Great win - if we could pass better we'd be world beaters. Not sure if it was bad bounces but we looked like we were fighting the puck a lot too. Duluth is the most obnoxious team we face every year - nice to beat them again. 3 Quote
Popular Post SiouxScore Posted February 25 Popular Post Posted February 25 Solid weekend of hockey. Wasn't always the cleanest and definitely some lulls but overall a nice bounceback from last weekend. 5 Quote

Popular Post The Sicatoka Posted February 26 Popular Post Posted February 26 There was a lot of chipping and chirping at James in the first two periods behind and after plays. They were trying to get him off his game. Instead, they woke him up. 1 4 Quote

Pound for pound, Carson might be the strongest guy on the ice. Quote

Proper response, IMO, without going overboard like UMD did. Also, in the scrum at the end of the Saturday game you could tell Blake had enough ... he feigned a cross check to one of the Bulldogs' face/head. The guy fell and Blake was bent over him yelling something at him that got the refs to initially waive for Blake to leave the ice (which would have missed the handshake line and TCoS). Not sure why the ref changed his mind and didn't have him leave the ice. Saw Blake and the ref talking after the handshake line and looked like there may have been an apology and an understanding. Blake showed great restraint to not follow through with his feigned cross check as it would easily have garnered him at least one game missed. Not sure if the TV caught that or not. I'll need to go watch the NCHC stream and see. 1 Quote
