Just finishing up the bb AAU season with tournaments in Minneapolis, Sioux Falls and Iowa with teams from all over the Midwest at every tournament. Not one player or parent missed a game If the colleges wouldn’t test healthy athletes there would be A season and turn out just fine. 4 Quote

We played an entire season of summer baseball ages 6-19 and not a single case. The only modifications were no sunflower seeds in the dugout and no hand shakes after the game, no social distancing. Don't recall seeing more than a couple people even wearing masks. You would think that would erase some of the fears. What are students going to do when flu and cold season roll around? 2 Quote

The G5 schools won’t cancel a non conference season if they have any games that will make their schools money on their schedules. As soon as their money games go away, they will not pay any school to come in and play. If their is a glimmer of hope that some of their games stay on the schedule with some of the P5 conference +1 scheduling, their non conference will stay as well. UND is hanging onto K St but it’s a long shot. It would be great if the MVFC could at minimum do a full conference schedule his year. Quote

UND1983 Posted August 7, 2020 Posted August 7, 2020 Alot of G5's are struggling financially right now. Could see some of them ending it also Quote
Mama Sue Posted August 7, 2020 Posted August 7, 2020 This is all just a mess... from elementary flag football to college ball. I hope and pray we all weather the storm. 1 Quote

The testing is taking everyone down. It is very rare for an asymptomatic person to transmit the virus and we have false positive tests which create the domino effect of quaranting, etc. Treat and address the symptoms not positive tests. You won't be able to finish a full season with all of this testing. If you have positive tests and have to quarantine a whole position group will miss the game so then you have to decide if you can play the game without them. Also, once you make this public the team you are playing won't want to play against you and may cancel the game anyway. Too many holes in the schedule and the expense of testing and not being able to play makes it nonsense to even try and play the season. lets get back to stay home if you are sick and make sure that you don't have any symptoms before you return and 99.6% of everyone will be fine! 9 Quote

SiouxForever Posted August 7, 2020 Posted August 7, 2020 If there was ever a time to take a gap year for students, that time is now. Can’t imagine being a freshie student not experiencing the full college life with social and sports. 3 Quote

siouxfan512 Posted August 7, 2020 Posted August 7, 2020 I hate the idea of football in the spring, but I guess it is still better than no football at all. More time for some of these young players to get up to speed. Hopefully, life looks more normal by next spring and the 2021 season will bring with it some normal schedules and a lot of fans. It will be interesting to see how this impacts the draft next year. Quote
