BarnWinterSportsEngelstad Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 Thinking back now, we played hard and earned this win, but: What happened to Denver today has happened to us in recent years in this tourney. This year we had to win, Denver didn't. Hopefully we play 60 minutes a game here on out. 3 Quote
LuvHockey Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 Checking was awesome...but I wonder if East refs will give most of them the penalty. Sorry for the Debbie downer attitude, but playoff hockey seems to be pretty wussified... Quote
Blackheart Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 I've watched just about every damn game this year and tonite's effort was spectacular. This just looked like a different team. They were focused defensively and were miserable to play against. DU had their chances but couldn't cash them. The announcers said this looked like a Frozen Four game and I have to agree. Hope they can bring the same effort against UMD Saturday night. Go Sioux!! Oh, and btw, see you all in Fargo next week!!!! 4 Quote
ChrisUND1 Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 What a game!!! DU is legit, and UND shut them down. Fargo is going to be unreal! 1 Quote
MafiaMan Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 Great support from the fans tonight. The sea of green continues! GO SIOUX! 4 Quote
cberkas Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 UND was the first team to shutout DU all year according to Candace Hogan. Quote
MafiaMan Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 Apparently anything less than a crowd of 45,000 for Sioux games is an indicator to some over of GPL that North Dakota hockey fans don't travel well. 2 Quote

Their fanbase is vastly bigger, yet they don't travel for !@#$ unless it's a Uber ride to St. Paul. I'd say it's pretty darn amazing how well UND fans support the hockey team when they play away from Grand Forks. 3 Quote

They will figure it out eventually. My guess is around Oct. 27, 2018. 5 Quote

They obviously didn't watch the game at MSG. Meanwhile ther was maybe a couple hundred fans total at their game last night against Penn St. Quote

Let's give credit to lots of Twin Cities alumni and friends who support the team too. I talked with many fans at yesterday's game who came from the likes of Chanhassen, Eden Prairie, Roseville, Apple Valley, Stillwater, etc. Also chatted with a guy and his family who drove from Hazen ND. Fun bunch he brought with him! 30 years ago, nobody in that neck of the woods knew UND had a hockey team. 2 Quote

Excuse me, but I am from 10 miles west of there (Beulah) and I have known about UND hockey since October 1975 since I started at UND, which is now 40+ years ago. And so did my Mom, because I quit coming home for Thanksgiving and was heading back early at Christmas if there was a hockey game. See you at the Hogg in 50 minutes. 2 Quote
Godsmack Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 Sad that Minnesota couldn't get at least a thousand fans to Detroit. That's gotta be an easy, quick, and relatively inexpensive flight from Mpls to Detroit. Quote

He's a special talent! 3 Quote

I have no knowledge to back this up, but he strikes me as an intelligent kid, and that quality counts. 1 Quote
dagies Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 This is the first game I've seen live this year. I'd heard the comparisons but hadn't been able to see him play. I get it now. Just solid, responsible, talented. He reminds me of Zajac too, because when he had the puck, you were never concerned he'd do the wrong thing. Just seems to be in the right place at the right time to do the right thing. 2 Quote

Yeah, I've only see the team on the screen this year, and until you see a player live it's hard to know how good they are at all phases. Quote

We show up, all that matters. Quote
