Same with the Ralph There should have been a mini downtown built around the Ralph with condos, apartments, bars, restaurants, rooftop patios, etc. All roads pointing toward the epicenter that is the Ralph. Next best step is to ask GF sports bars/restaurants - like Buffalo Wild Wings - to set up tents in Alerus Center parking lot for football tailgating. If you can’t get restaurants to open up full time on 42nd, then at least have a temporary presence for game day. Alerus Center is a city owned property. The athletic department isn't in the bar/restaurant business. They definitely wouldn't be negotiating the naming rights deal. Idaho and Northern Iowa managed to add some natural light to their facilities, and basically had the same excuse not to.
