NoiseInsideMyHead
Give us your best guess as to the businesses who are unlikely to ever re-open their doors or, if they do, it will be short-lived. Is this the perfect time for small businesses to fold? What about underperforming locations for regional/national chains? New businesses? Established players? (Insider information is 100% welcome.) Kab
This may be an opportunity for someone to take over a shaky business i wonder if the new look of a restaurant will take into account the social distancing and not cram everyone in tight spots

I don't think this thread is bad in particular. Grand Forks (my hometown) and Fargo have too many restaurants in general. In Brandon Bochenski, I hope to trust him to jump start Grand Forks. It needs it, big time!

All pro-Fighting Hawks name/logo people may breathe a little easier now. Grand Forks has a new public enemy no. 1. Seriously, though, you must live a very sheltered existence. The food scene in GF is absolutely, and unforgiveably, pathetic.

In addition, I still think they have too many restaurants and nothing truly unique. Relax. When I am in GF, I go to Blue Moose, and that is in EGF, MN so.... When I am in GF, I go to Blue Moose, and that is in EGF, MN so.... I apologize up front but I’m going to rant a bit. GF is certainly not MSP or Fargo; it can’t be because there aren’t enuf people. But there are certainly some good restaurants in town. Pizza? It doesn’t get a lot better than Up North, Rhombus, or Mikes. Fine Dining? The Frog is excellent, and Elys isn’t bad either.Good taco joint? Anyone heard of the Pepper? Good steaks, seafood, & burgers? Speedway comes to mind.Breakfast? Darcy’s anyone? Like many of us, I worked in restaurants when I was in college, and I’ve been peripherally involved (silent partner) in a restaurant in the past. And I’ve been involved in a few other businesses as well. What I learned is there is no tougher business to make a buck in than the restaurant business. Everyone is a critic and knows much more about running a restaurant than the proprietor. And no one attempts to understand that the restaurant owner can’t always control the cook who has a hangover, or the server that decides not to show up that day, or the steak that is tough. Many of us just go straight to social media and tube any place that didn’t meet our expectations that day. Think about that for a second. What if our job was constantly subject to social media criticism? Not always fun. Our town will always have the restaurants it deserves because it will have the restaurants that we frequent. The ones that cater to a very small portion of the public won’t survive. The ones that satisfy a good cross section of the public will. Supply & demand. Simple, but complicated.
CMSioux
If you want nice restaurants you have to be willing to spend more than $10 on a meal and you have to willing to eat dinner after 6:00 p.m.
