There is a lot of grey area.  It's not as cut and dry as you make it out to be either.  I had a conversation with one of NDSUs coaches after DeLuca got granted And they were fairly certain it was going to happen but couldn't 100% guarantee it would be granted.  There was a lot of work that went into making the decision to end his season after he wasn't needed anymore.

Actually he was needed. They would likely be playing this weekend if DeLuca hadn't gotten hurt. He played as a true freshman, therefore next year is his 5th year and he gets his hardship year. You could tell in the Iowa game he could barely lift his arm because of the pain. He is actually better than most FCS linebackers with one arm though, so if they didn't think there was a very good chance of him getting another year, he probably would have played through the pain.

They didn't lose because of their LBs. They lost because of their WRs QB and DBs

Having Deluca in that game would have significantly impacted JMU from embarrassing our defense in the first half on the ground. I don't think he would have been enough for NDSU to pull out the win, but he absolutely would have helped NDSU stop their amazing running back.

He sure would have helped but even he wouldn't have been able to fix all the holes that were exposed by the Dukes.

He would of not beat James Madison.

DeLuca is very good in the pass game covering backs an te's, but yes they do need help at corner. You act like JMU blew out NDSU. It was pretty close. If they had contained the JMU back it would have been a toss up game. The JMU QB biggest pass plays came on scrambles when he escaped pressure and heaved up a couple of bombs that were caught.

On a side note, did anybody catch the ESPN announcers say the JMU secondary was the best in the FCS? They obviously hadn't watched the UND secondary had they?

And if we hadn't choked against Richmond we would have won...... But we didn't, and neither did you.

Without the BS holding call it's 7-0, Stick actually did fumble, and JMU just lost their starting RT and the backup was terrible, and 2 other starters were suspended.  Yet, they still traveled to the mighty Fargo Dome and in spite of 8 false starts by all accounts 'HANDLED' you.  All things considered the game wasn't that close.  The announcers also said JMU beats the Bison 8 of 10 times.  I would argue 10 out of 10 times.

It was 17-0 at one point - NDSU was lucky to even make it a game. Also, NDSU was a coin flip away from losing several other games; Charleston Southern, Eastern Washington, Iowa, and Northern Iowa are some that come to mind.

UND was close to winning a playoff game as they led 24-7 in the third quarter but they choked and need to get better. Same goes for NDSU; they aren't "best team" caliber anymore and they need to improve to get there again. Face reality.

If we are talking close games, we also were a blocked punt (Stony Brook), and a 2 point conversion against an FBS team (Bowling Green) away from an undefeated regular season, and a possible 1 or 2 seed.

exactly...the game really wasn't that close when you factor in the bad calls against JMU too!!!! (call it both ways)

It goes both ways Darrell.

USD could've been a loss, weber and Montana state both could have been losses.

winning is what matters. Good teams find a way to win tight games.
