bison73 Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 What is the ratio of opportunities for women at NDSU at compared to what their student body percentage is at? How does that ratio compare with other D-1 institutions? You didnt answer the question. Are all of your sports funded to the max allowed by the NCAA? A simple yes or no will suffice.

I realize he is trying to walk it to a preconceived conclusion as if its some type of moral equivalency. Fact is he answered a question with a question. Kind of disingenuous dont you think?

Kind of disingenuous dont you think?regarding funding fcoa, UND has more options right now than ndsu does because it supports more sports than required. If some sports are cut, or some of the sports deemed less important get their budgets trimmed, I fail to see why you would give two craps about it. Also, The "moral equivalency" IS the argument. But you dismiss morals as an invalid argument because you're an ndsu rube, so i believe we've all reached an impasse. 1
dakotadan Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 Every woman athlete at NDSU on scholarship (they are at the max in all sports) is getting a scholarship and FCOA. Can UND say that? Yes, every woman at UND on scholarship (they are at the max in all sports) is getting a scholarship and FCOA. And that is a lot more women's scholarships than NDSUA&AS. So that is answered. Now will you please go away? 1

homer Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Article below for reference. http://www.inforum.com/sports/3932543-ndsu-athletic-department-wants-more-student-funding-through-activity-fees
SiouxVolley Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 UNI has gone FCOA for all sports, including football. Some Big Sky AD's are concerned about UND's ability to make FCOA when they can't.
Sioux>Bison Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 What a crock of bull if student fees go up to pay for FCOA for sports no one follows or care about like track, soccer swimming , women's hockey, baseball. College is about getting an education and not about sports. This crazy student debt is ridiculous as it is.

College is about getting an education and not about sports. This crazy student debt is ridiculous as it is. At this point, UND's students subsidize a larger percentage of the athletic budget than NDSU's students (13.2% vs. 5.5% or 6.6% depending on what numbers you use). This increase would put NDSU's subsidy at a slightly higher level (~14% using current budget numbers). While I partially agree that student fees are helping subsidize sports that most don't necessarily care about, it isn't as simple as just shutting down those sports, most (but not all) of them are required by either the NCAA (Title IX) or the conference. The amusing part is that NDSU came out a few months ago and stated that FCOA was going to be fully covered through private donations. Now all of the sudden their athletic department is requesting an additional $1.5 million from student fees and citing that travel/equipment/supply costs are suddenly going to skyrocket even though they just requested an increase 2 years ago that they stated would be sufficient for the next 5 years. Strange coincidence. 2
Texas rancher Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Just trying to get to the same level of student funding as und, and the rest of the MVFC, I see no problem with that

UNDBIZ Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Perhaps ndsu is just setting up for the addition of women's hockey..... 1

Now all of the sudden they need more money. What else has changed in that time frame?

So are you saying NDSU athletics doesn't understand how to make budgets/projections or that those bills magically went up $1.5 million/year and no one saw it coming?
Texas rancher Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Wow, you guys would throw a fit if ndsu used to many straws at the milkshake table.
