If we fire a coach with the amount of success Hakstol has, we will be the laughing stock of NCAA hockey. No titles in 8 years is the worst reason to fire a coach who regularly puts us in a position to contend. I hate losing, but when you look at the big picture, titles aren't the only measure of success.

When we're 10-25 for the 4th season in a row, by all means get your pitchforks. Until then, keep dreaming.

Got to say that I am plenty frustrated right now. I am really starting to hate the dump and chase especially on the power play. Now is the time for one of the ducky and bunny guys to come on and quote Red's record at Michigan. Not time for him to get fired, but certainly time for him to wake up.

In my humble opinion, our game is too simple. They (St. Lawrence) started trapping around the 15:00 minute mark in the 2nd - can't recall the exact time. check out their forechecker. behind our net, 1 on 2 or 3 at times - resulting in a lost battle and us losing the puck and the !@$! show starts.

Then our even strength breakout....well I am not going there - we all saw what that resulted in.

Powerplay breakout? Oh - interesting - its a pro set - you can see it happen 63 times a night on the nhl channel...the difference is the decisions made on the ice are unprecedented ( I suspect for a reason - cuz they do not work ). I don't understand what we are trying to do and it sure as he!! doesn't\hasn't and won't work.

Still not blaming coaching - I see player on ice decision making the issue. That being said, maybe since we have fallen out of the top 20 and just got beat again by another non-top 20 team maybe this year is not our year. Anyone think we can close this thread and maybe just move on to another topic - Davey ain't going anywhere. Maybe we just need to give it time...like martin Zellar says "time heals and time forgets...". Next year at this time things will be matured and better.

Definition of insanity doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Hakstol can't or won't change his dump and chase, how many times in the offense zone all three forwards against one wall or behind the net and guess what happens? The puck comes loose and st. Lawrence takes it the other way.

I think I'm your huckleberry...

The folks grumbling about Hak tonight are the same ones who think 7 losing seasons in 13 years is acceptable as long as there is one NCAA title in there somewhere.

For the record, I expressed frustration with dump and chase futility on the PP right after the 2011 Frozen Four. Very frustrating, especially since UMD figured out how to carry the puck into the zone on the PP 48 hours later.

What frustrating is watching out pp which is just moronic and then watching the gophers and dogs play each other. They always have sharp passing and creative playmaking on their pp units and can 1 get the puck into the zone and 2 keep it there. Would it be so hard to take a page out of their books?

Every year you don't win an NCAA Title is a "losing year."

I couldn't agree more...this team doesn't have dump and chase players. I go back to the square peg and round hole theory...it doesn't fit.

5x3 I believe it was Johnson who carried the puck down the right wall to the blue line STOPPED and dumped it in.

Carry the frickin puck in!!!!!! There is obviously no freedom to deviate from Hak"s system for these guys. Problem is the "system" isn't working and won't work with these players. Right now UND has to be the easiest team for opponents to prepare for in the nation...bar none. They are real easy to play against.

And on another side note of square peg round hole...how does Mitch go from top 6 with healthy bodies to suit with 3 forwards out? Never been a fan of his but again it makes one wonder what the heck does Hak think sometimes.

"...what you got to do is find spots for each one of (the kids) so they can do what they do best...and I think that is really the key."

Quote last night from the boy's HS BB coach where my kids attend school.

Maybe not firing Hak but maybe showing Berry the door wouldn't be a bad thing. He was brought in as a defensive specialist and the D has been awful the last two years, what are we like 45 out of 59 in defensive scoring. Maybe the disparity in shots is a defensive problem also( too much time running around in you own zone). Ps mr. Schmaltz act like you want to be a D man, at least three times last night he is coasting back or not covering his man on goals scored.

martin did not say that. time heals wasn't a martin song. billy wrote and sang it.

4 Frozen Fours in his first 4 years and one since. That may be tough to argue against.

I have not specifically been calling for Hak's departure, but I have been trying to point out for the last few years that I think the program has been headed the wrong direction.

Last season was alarming for me. Least number of wins in Hak's tenure, no hardware, no Frozen Four, all while having 14 draftees, including two hobey baker candidates. Oh, yeah, and no "second half surge".
