fightingsioux4life
We just returned from a trip to Maine. Along the NW shore of Lake Michigan, in the state of Michigan, we passed a place the sign identified as "Honest Injun Tourist Trap." It's probably out of the way enough not to attract much attention. Otherwise, they would be getting slammed in the media.

fightingsioux4life
It's in EGF Thanks Fetch, I didn't know that EGF was located "Along the NW shore of Lake Michigan, in the state of Michigan". Thanks for clearing that up. :silly:
niouxsiouxfan
They wouldn't like it if we called them Mighty Whities," said one Native American protester. If there no objections, I'd like to submit "Mighty Whities" as a replacement for "Fighting Sioux". That would be great, for so many reasons. Tho the pc police wouldnt see the irony or amusement

Hypocrisy anyone?

Do they happen to have a med school with a proctology residency? They could call themselves the Ass Techs and nobody would notice.
CMSioux
Fair is fair - be consistent - Aztecs should go, along with Utes, Seminoles, Chippewa, whatever else is left out there - but of course it is just easier to pick on a small school in North Dakota and move on. The Sicatoka
The NCAA policy was "race, ethnicity, or national origin" based monikers. So ... Vandals* and Irish need go as well. *The Vandals were a Germanic tribe.

niouxsiouxfan
I have a question. (Call me dumb if you must, maybe I just havent read far enough back on this site) If UND wants to have a throwback night and HONOR their history, is it possible for them to bring back the jersey and name?

(Call me dumb if you must, maybe I just havent read far enough back on this site) If UND wants to have a throwback night and HONOR their history, is it possible for them to bring back the jersey and name? Throwback jerseys are inevitable (but don't count on it with any regularity). As for the name, I would not expect the University, the PA announcer, or anyone else to use it officially, regardless of whether the NCAA would permit it. It might get tossed out there in promotion of a special event or in the build-up before the game, but even then they might well bury it in a reference to 'the University's proud history' or some other nonsense. MafiaMan
Aren't the broadcasts from Tallahassee fun? ESPN will remove (or at least try to) signs they deem offensive. I can only imagine the undies in a bundle if a "FIGHTING SIOUX FOREVER" sign would have appeared in Fargo a few weeks ago...

MafiaMan
Yes, but that would be hostile. That's my point. UND fan sign: Go Sioux! NCAA: Hey, that sign's not allowed. FSU fan sign: 'Scalp the Irish. NCAA: Move along, nothing to see here.
