Popular Post ND-fan Posted December 9 Popular Post Posted December 9 Schmidt on paper to be excellent choice for coach and I am excited to see what happens with the program. The questions that remain and to be decided who will be the coordinators and how these new coaches structure the team in systems they will play under remember we probably will need the right personnel if we change systems. We have recruited class that may not fit the new structure we may want to play. It also known we need big influx of defensive players if we want to improve our defense how many scholarships and money do we have to bring in group of players. I would guess we will see some players leaving but usually its talent we don’t want to loose. This is going to be interesting big challenge for new head coach. Second will we retain any of the present staff or is this total turn over staff other than one or two carry over to have some coaching contact with the players. Everyone here thinking change the coach we’re going to be contending next year maybe a bit optimistic this is going to take two or three years to do if things go well. This new coaching staff needs to recruit and start winning recruiting battles against Dakota schools if we going to be successful. This going take effort from coaching staff, administration, donors, fans, and finally the players that are playing here or are going to play here. I am optimistic we can do this and reach our goals. But getting back to present staff, number of them will be gone but the program owes debt of gratitude to number of them for the effort and loyalty right up to the end of their tenure here. These people are quality individuals and I would like to thank them for their efforts and loyalty to the program. 5 Quote

SiouxFan100 Posted December 10 Posted December 10 I would assume there were lots of applicants not named here. Most not interviewed. Quote
zonadub Posted December 10 Posted December 10 And some in the discussion here that did not apply. (Caruso?) Guessing… The list will remain under wraps to protect the names and careers of those not chosen. 1 Quote

Siouxperman8 Posted December 10 Posted December 10 When do people think we’ll hear about the staff? Maybe some positions on Wednesday? Quote

Oh I would think that has already been decided. Not public knowledge yet. Some positions can be negotiated with the HC…who he wants to bring with and at what salary. Yes, I would think the first two years will be “buildings years.” But I think the positive vibes will be enough to put more in the W column. Also, having Bubba, with his football knowledge and knowing first hand the needs of the program, in some admin/fundraising position will be a huge asset!!! Good times coming! 3 Quote

I think the rule of thumb with a new coach is growing pains year one and hit the ground running year 2 and full steam ahead year 3. It even worked like that with Bubba. 2 Quote

With all that, I agree with you - big things typically take until year 2. 2 Quote

For next year I'm seeing 7-5 most likely with a small chance of 8-4. Quote
forksandspoons Posted December 10 Posted December 10 If you bring in the right transfer at QB, it can completely change your season for the better. This happens so often in college football these days. Hopefully Schmidt can find someone to come in and be a playmaker right away. 1 Quote

They need to develop as backups and get themselves ready to go, like most every other winning program. So if the guy you have isn't ready go get one who is 1 Quote

Hopefully the new staff can turn one of the QBs into the best player on the offense. A transfer at very least could bring in some competition Quote

Depends on who we have on the roster to compete with him. Depends on who the OC is and what schemes we use. Lastly, it depends on how much Romfo improves. Regardless of who the QB is, a lot depends on the oline and the rest of the supporting cast, but I believe we need improvement across the board. 1 Quote
Popular Post The Sicatoka Posted December 10 Popular Post Posted December 10 I'm gonna say it: UND looks smaller and slower than the top MVFC teams. That. Must. Change. 7 Quote
Popular Post iluvdebbies Posted December 10 Popular Post Posted December 10 It won't matter who is named the starting QB next year. Fans will be screaming for the backup. 6 1 Quote
