Popular Post siouxfan512 Posted March 21, 2021 Popular Post Posted March 21, 2021 A few observations: - Bubba and Danny seemed to move away from what has worked so far. I was very disappointed in the game plan. Didn't establish the run, and even when it started working, we didn't stick with it. Then we started running Otis out a few times and Skokna between the tackles. Lack of creativity and far different play calling from the first few games. -Belquist is a dude, and he is going to be good. -Maag is talented, but needs to man up. -D Line is not bad, they are undersized. -We can't throw a deep ball, and we seem to have issues defending it as well. -Zeb Noland is trash, Miller is ok. -NDSU will be much more successful if their O-Line plays like today. They were big and they were impressive. - Luepke is a monster of a load to take down, but especially behind their line. That being said, our tackling was high and horrendous today. -Schuster was not great, but also not the biggest problem today. This team needs to put it behind them. It hurts as a fan, knowing we could have knocked off the Bison for the first time in forever, but it will happen eventually. Eyes on the real prize. We could still win the Valley and we can still make a playoff run. Get back to what we were doing and move forward. 6 Quote
Devils Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 As many have mentioned, it wasn't necessarily a surprise to lose, but to lose the way we did was. Physically dominated. We wore down SIU and SDSU. We were dominated in the trenches from the get-go today. When we needed a yard we couldn't get it; couldn't sustain drives. When they needed a yard they'd get five right up the gut. Not to mention we couldn't cover anyone, the first INT should have been as easy TD. Quote

Perhaps I should have phrased that as "could have." Doesn't matter. The point is valid. The UND team I saw today is a mediocre Valley team in most years. and the NDSU team I've seen the past 4 week was a bottom of the Valley team in most years. Whats your point? Its one week, similar to the a$$ whooping the Bison got from SIU. I'm not happy about it, but there are more games to be played. 1 Quote

Was only a few weeks ago the Bison got their ass kicked by a team we destroyed. Still think SDSU is best team in mvfc. We will see how they do in Fargo. Could very will host the bison at home if we win out and they lose to SDSU. Would be fun to watch und get cucked again.... this time at home. Quote

Popular Post UND-FB-FAN Posted March 21, 2021 Popular Post Posted March 21, 2021 Went to the game. Had a guy behind me yell “Sioux suck sh*t” the entire game and another guy in front of me criticize “the guy in the wheel chair”. Every fan base has them, but this NDSU fan base has a higher than average number of morons. Pathetic. The idea this isn’t a rivalry anymore is nonsensical propaganda from the Fargo media. UND was not physical enough today to win. That was the difference. The defense could not stop a FB from running all over them. The missed XP hurt momentum despite Weah’s huge play. Lastly, UND’s offense certainly could have done more. Schuster and the receivers need to be able to make more plays consistently; missed on opportunities in the passing game. On to the next game. Have to regroup and put it together against Youngstown St. UND will certainly get a chance again - possibly even this spring - against NDSU. Need to make the next one count. 8 Quote

We have a bunch of them too, especially in the hockey crowd. I've seen some of the college kids lay into a dad and daughter (probably 4 years old) when the Gophers came to town. Also spoke with a very nice Bison fan, who is also a Packer fan, and went to a game at US Bank stadium. Vikings fans basically terrorized the guy for four quarter, who just wanted to see the stadium and watch the game. Some people really suck. These people have nothing to do with college or team affiliation, they are just piece of s h i t human beings. There is no changing them. It is sad, but a big reminder about what is more important in life, and it is not football or sports. Quote

In my travels, including to the NDSU tailgating extravaganza, over 99% of the opposing teams fans are fantastic. Oh sure there’s a bit of ribbing and trash talking but they all offer you a drink and something to eat and a “good luck today”. It doesn’t get much better than that 1 Quote
gundy1124 Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 I'm going back to one of my original concerns on the season, too small on the D Line. We have some injuries there, too. 2 Quote

nodakvindy Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 Kicking game is a real issue. Missed XP was deflating and essentially taking FGs off the table means going for it on 4th in instances you normally wouldn't want to. Playing indoors, I can't believe we can't get a star kicker. This was a major strength for many years. 1 Quote

I get some fan banter, but not on a Game Day Thread - totally uncalled for. The two SD boards wouldn't put up with this $h!t. 4 Quote

I know we don't have a chance to get a kid like the Shanley kid who is heading to Stanford, but we need to address this. I can't believe we had better kickers in the D2 days. Quote
Midwestern Hawk Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 A couple thoughts Weah needs to be on the field for 2/3 of snaps.(only 13 carries)? After scoring to start 2nd half, Bubba and co needed to make Zeb beat us with constant pressures stacking the box, especially after Morrison went down. Need to use Weah earlier in game with play action and take some deep shots on 1st and 2nd down to compensate for QB lack of arm strength. Much more difficult for receivers to get separation if the dB/lb isn’t worried about getting beat deep. NDSU has now publishes the template to nullify the offense. If Weah is in the game stack the box and play tight man and if he’s not in the game drop more into coverage. Oh and missing xps is inexcusable. How deflating was that? Ridiculous. Quote
Dustin Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 Yes, I was deflated after that missed extra point. Gave me a bad feeling about the rest of the game. I wonder what the mindset of the team was this week. It seems like we thought NDSU's offensive struggles would basically hand the game to us and we wouldn't have to do anything special. Our defense, especially, seemed uninspired. We didn't bring any new wrinkles, offensively or defensively, that I noticed. Quote
