Just saw on Otis’s social media what looked like Jordan Cannady in the hospital for surgery. Hopefully nothing serious, prayers for the young man!

I don't want to speculate on injuries, especially when the rumors I've heard aren't completely reliable, but I've heard he might not be able to go this fall.

Did we lose Canady in the NDSU game?

Didn't we lose a top-flight DB in a past NDSU game?

Hmmm....

Lost a safety Zach Arnell i believe to a really bad cheap shot in that game.

Otis Weah, Tommy Schuster, And Bubba Schweigert all nominated for the Walter Payton Award (Player of the year), Jerry Rice Award (Freshman player of the year) and the Eddie Robinson Award (FCS Coach of the year) respectively.

Surprised Watson from NDSU isn't on that list, although I don't know his stats.  Wouldn't surprise me if Watson enters the portal.  But NDSU has been busier playing the last couple weeks so maybe his mind hasn't wandered to that yet and won't do it before the May deadline.   Have only seen a little of Watson but he looks pretty talented.

Tall and fast, but tends to have some brick hands (except of course when he's pushing off a defensive back right before halftime).
Not sure he's in an offense that knows how to utilize him. They way they try to get him the ball in space doesn't seem to work.

Good assessment. Fast for FCS but needs to take the oven mitts off.

If he was in the < ahem > correct shade of green, would he be slot and used more jet sweep action?

Honestly, no, I don't think so. They use him in a fair amount of jet sweep and from what I have seen, it is pretty hit or miss.

Maybe in the slot, but to your point, I do think that DF has shown a little more creativity in creating mismatches and getting the ball to playmakers in space than his counterpart in Fargo.

That being said, they have usually just relied on running over people and it has been pretty successful. But also more to my point on him being in an offense that doesn't quite know how to properly utilize him.

I came across this link on several player's social media pages from  Small School Prospect Scouting.   I apologize, there was no easy way to do this.   There is obviously a glaring omission of Weah on the Walter Payton award when we know others have him there.  Something interesting:  All the categories had players spread out from across the country except Defensive Back - Their winner was from Austin Peay, but all 4 runner ups were MVFC guys.  Scrutinize, ponder, complain and comment at will    Thought it was worth sharing.

Interestingly enough, the number 2 DB on here (Jeremy Webb) was a one time UND commit that didn't sign on signing day and went the JUCO route.

Just another to add to the list. It’s an impressive graveyard.

I was thinking the same thing.  We have just missed on some really good DBs while also getting some really good talent.  Evaluations at that position are pretty strong for a position we ask a lot out of.

All MVFC Team

1st: Nguon and Ottis

2nd: Shuster, Holm, Krzanowski, Walezko, Skona, Maag and Tobin

Ottis runner up OPOY

Krzanowski runner up DPOY

Shuster runner up FPOY & NPOY

Great accomplishments for these guys!

One thing I don't understand is how does Krzanoskit get runner up DPOY and not make 1st team???
