Popular Post RD17
I for one was a doubter. Didn't think Bubba and staff had what it takes to get this program straightened out. Obviously I was wrong. Bubba has turned this thing around and the best part is that this team still has room to grow. I think UND will make some noise in the playoffs this year and next year the team should be loaded. It starting to feel like something really special is building with this program. Great job by the coaching staff and players!

Cratter
Another great athletic department job by Brian Faison. It was awesome watching the big sky trophy you made sure was ready if UND won, and won they did. Great Big Sky Championship presentation put on by the athletic director of UND.

Hayduke
Congrats to UND football, the team that won't quit. I think they're in the playoffs, despite not having any quality losses.
Popular Post Nodak78
Congrats to Bubba, staff, seniors and the rest of the players. what a run and championship. That was probably one of the most enjoyable games to watch. I've been to the games where Mooney rips the ball lost and scores a TD. taking down the goal posts at Memorial. I watched Kliensasser speed past the Bison DB's to score and win the Nickel. I watched the come back over the coyotes to win the Great West I watched the back and forth of the first Montana game in the Alerus. I watched the Coyotes game this year and what a come back. Wow But the NAU comeback to win the Big Sky, what a game. UND football is a T-E-A-M. Some many players stepped up. Mercer, Reed. What a gutsy performance by Studs. Man is he a gamer. A TD throw by Brady. The mash unit of walking wounded OL. Just so impressive. Finally the crowd. I saw fans hollering and clapping in the 4th qtr. That usually second guessing the play calling. We were loud and made a difference down the stretch. Playoffs. NO Doubt. I am convinced a seed and home field again. We need to support this T-E-A-M. 13

SiouxVolley
Bubba knows how to motivate and lead and coach. Can't give him enough credit. His players love and respect him so much, as he teaches selflessness by example. Recruits see the joy on the current players faces, and want to sign up. Couldn't be happier for them.

Any doubt? Um yeah. I'd put Beau Baldwin above Bubba. And that's not just a homer pick. This is Beau's best coaching season to date at EWU. Double digit win season breaking in a new QB. Likely Big Sky Championship (co). The best FCS vs FBS win of any team in the nation (WSU who is probably the best team in the Pac 12 which is a power 5 conference) and he big-time exceeded expectation as EWU was picked to finish 4th or 5th in Big Sky coming off a season with no playoffs. No doubt Bubba has done a great job this year for you all, but it's not a slam dunk in his favor.

geaux_sioux
I doubt Bubba gets it. One factor that might help him win it is that UND is perceived as having lesser talent so in essence he did more with less in their eyes. UNDColorado
Year Prior to Bubba: 3-8 Bubba year 1: 5-7 Bubba year 2: 7-4 Bubba year 3: 9-2 I would say he is deserving to be on this list.
UND08
I don't begrudge coach Baldwin of anything...he's got a heck of a team in Cheney...and an absolute beast in Kupp. They were down last year...by their standards (and who could blame them after Oregon treated EWU like a JUCO...which is a blatant abuse of the grad transfer rule)...but at some point Bubba deserves some recognition on some level for turning the dumpster fire that he inherited around in 3 years. I know this is a season-only award, but look back to 2008 (UND's first D1 year and Baldwin's 1st year at EWU). Assuming EWU wins on Saturday, this is what both teams have done: UND 52-47 (many of the wins sub-D1 due to transition schedule) EWU 83-31 (1 National Title) EWU in 2015 was an anomaly...Coach Baldwin deserves a ton of credit for getting them back on track this year, and it is tough to sustain a program (for most schools not named NDSU)...but Bubba has taken a team that has done nothing and made them relevant (to what level can and will be thoroughly debated I'm sure) in a relatively short time-frame. That's why most UND fans think he should be coach of the year...if that makes any sense. Maybe they'll split the big sky award. Both coaches are very deserving.
