UNDColorado Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 After watching the highlights of their win versus Butler it looks like they did the same thing defensively: show nothing and play straight up. Very hard to learn anything from either defenses IMHO. I am really looking forward to this game...I want to know where we are at as a program and this game seems like the perfect way to find out. The Sicatoka Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Dearest Bunnies, There are no worries for you over the next two weeks. Please, please, just focus on your FBS opponent and your "rivals" from Fargo that close out September for you. That is all. Signed, 2 Quote
UND92,96 Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 You see UND vs SDSU and think of the old days where UND handled the Jacks most of the time. This is NOT the SDSU of old, obviously. I have no feel for what is going to happen in this game. Can't wait to watch it! No kidding. The last three games in GF--UND 114, SDSU 16. Quote

SIOUXFAN97 Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Yep, his name was included as well. LBs will see plenty of action this week. Edit: I re-read the tweet. Said Mussman expects most back. Listed Ratelle, Walker, Jackson, Kuska and Labat. We will need all hands on deck this week. Depth isn't there at some positions. I just hope that its not one of those lingering ankle injuries that he can play through but it limits his effectiveness while on the field...kind of like golladay last year....i was expecting big big things from ratelle this year... UNDColorado Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 I've been looking for highlights where did you find them? On the SDSU official football site. http://www.gojacks.com/mediaPortal/player.dbml?&db_oem_id=15000&id=3046684&ATCLID=&SPSID=64627&SPID=7153&DB_OEM_ID=15000 Quote
GeauxSioux Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 I've read on a few message boards where the predictions are for either UND to get pounded or SDSU to just win comfortably. I seem to remember those same predictions prior to UND playing Northern Iowa, when UND was still D2. Let's hope the results are the same. Quote
Hawkster Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 I agree with the others who said this game will be very telling about what the team is capable of. A bad showing here will not sit well for our other tough games. I'm not seeing a blowout here, so if we step it up, it should be a big W. We need that signature win, and while this isn't that much coveted FBS win, it will have to do. One thing we can't do is let SDSU turn the game into a track meet. We can't go into this thing just hoping just to outscore SDSU. The defense has to hold and keep things reasonable. We can win, but we can't put up numbers like we did against Valpo. Please show some "D". Please, please, please. Quote

I seem to remember those same predictions prior to UND playing Northern Iowa, when UND was still D2. Let's hope the results are the same. The difference is UND had better coaching and a better defense back in those days against Northern Iowa. Honestly not trying to stir anything up, but I think it is true. I equate this UND staff to NDSU's Babich staff. Maybe not quite as bad as Babich, but close. Quote
MGSD Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 After decades of football frustration, the Bunnies finally have it figured out. They'll be very tough to beat. They're not as good as they think they are but will be competitive with most everybody. Quote
FightingSuhaki Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Our pass D will need to step up big time. They like to toss the rock from looking at their stats vs Butler Quote
siouxfan512 Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 This may already be out there, but it does look like UND vs SDSU will be broadcast live on Fox College Sports. Quote

They like to toss the rock from looking at their stats vs Butler They're a run first and second team. Make no mistake about it. They just wanted to polish up the passing game to keep teams off balance. Quote

siouxfan512 Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 That'd be great. Where did you see it? Check the Fox College Sports website. I looked at their broadcast schedule for the Prior Lake, MN area, and it was listed as broadcasting live, but i don't know what areas it does/does not apply too. http://msn.foxsports.com/tv/schedule Quote
BigGame Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 The Jacks do have a pretty solid passing game but watching them play Butler they weren't as clean in the passing game as maybe the stats show. I think they can be a very good throwing team if need be but Sumner had some throws in which the timing was off or the ball was just underthrown. I did think Butler did a very good job of tightening up the run defense after the first drive in which Zenner carries twice for about 80 yards and the TD. Hopefully UND can contain the run and force SDSU to attempt to win the game through the air. Quote
SIOUXFAN97 Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 we need to have 12k or more people there making noise on each and every play.... the crowd needs to able to force a couple of false starts on 3rd and 3 to make it 3rd and 8 and then 3rd and 13.... 2 Quote

ericpnelson Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 I'm pumped for this game. This is probably the biggest game for football since the Great West title game. I'll be making the 5 hour trek from Williston for it. 4 Quote
geaux_sioux Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Jacks handled the noise in Fargo just fine last year. Lower ceiling and metal walls make a huge difference. The noise gets bounced down onto the field. Quote
UND-FB-FAN Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Lower ceiling and metal walls make a huge difference. The noise gets bounced down onto the field. Unfortunately, Fargo with 19,000 is easily just as loud as the Alerus with 10,000. Noise will help, but ultimately UND has to just come out and play a good football game to win this one. Quote
JohnboyND7 Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Lower ceiling and metal walls make a huge difference. The noise gets bounced down onto the field. 19,000 with 4,000 of them being students makes a huge difference....and the Jacks did just fine. Quote
