The Sicatoka
The defense: - three guys out of time - two guys sign professionally - three guys portal out, guys who were obvious defensive liabilities A month before season's end I told @stoneySIOUX I saw a 5% chance of needing 7 or 8D. I based it on the above, and the pipeline, and this (like it or hate it) portal world.
SIOUXELEVENS
I think Berry and his staff should get some praise, admitting there was issues and players weren’t playing up to their potential or recruited incorrectly. The staff is trying to right the ship, hoping we aren’t having these discussions next spring.

But there remain serious issues surrounding this program that must be addressed sooner rather than later.

Not worth blowing up this thread even further since it has been beaten to death, but for starters, pretty serious accusations you're leveling regarding the NODAK trademark. According to your version, BB must have some crazy pull in the North Dakota Attorney General's office to get away with what you're accusing him of. 12 minutes ago, fightingsioux4life said: Don't expect a coherent response. Popular Post Irish
13 hours ago, Big A HG said: You don't understand and I don't know if you're playing ignorant on purpose or just don't get it, but I'll humor you nonetheless. We've won one NCAA game in the past seven years...against AIC....one. Woopdeedoo. We've missed three NCAA tournaments on merit since our title many years ago. The Ralph is emptying and big time recruits are less interested in UND than ever since the new Ralph opened. We used to get excited about all the first round picks we'd land, now we're excited about Carson Pilgrim...a very good player, but overly exaggerated only because the rest of Berry's recruits lately have been so lackluster. Berry's accountability with the roster has led to an ENTIRE defense leaving all at the same time, both of our top goalies leaving at the same time, and a bunch of forwards on top of that. It's normal to have the odd player or two leave earlier than expected, but it's not normal to lose that many kids at once unless you have someone incompetent running the program. Because of incompetent roster management, the best we can do is pluck players from Alaska and Lindenwood. Then, our head coach secretly trademarked a logo through various levels of anonymity and still got caught, only to have it swept under the rug. We're the UNIVERSITY of NORTH DAKOTA. We should be setting the f'ing standard with college hockey. Instead, we've looked like a bunch of buffoons while Duluth and Denver are winning championships and the Goofs are playing in title games too. I'm sorry you set the bar so low that you can't see anything but rainbows and tulips, but I have a higher standard for North Dakota hockey. Sounds harsh but a fairly accurate picture of where we are as a program (I know nothing about the trademark issue and don't care) - however, here we are after missing the tournament needing all new defensemen, a portal goalie for the third year, and having lost several recruits who didn't pan out or develop. Not even close to where a top team should be. Have we done pretty well in the portal - yes - however most of the top teams are open to maybe 1 or 2 portal transfers if they are top end and fit their program - they have orderly recruiting to fill their needs. So the competition for portal players is different. There is no doubt that we are not getting Blue Chippers like we used to and that our assessment and development of lower round draftees has been very poor. If in the start of the 2017 year you would have told me that we would miss the tournament 3 times by 2023, have one tournament win, and this is where we would start for 23-24 I would have called you a liar. Time to get our house in order. And the usual "support your program by giving more money" just doesn't apply here - we spend more on our hockey program than any other school in the country. And to see our rivals do well is just icing on this big pile.

Totally agreed - but here's how things usually work around here - we will have a better season next year but not rise to the top - make the tournament but not go very far. Then after a couple of so-so years with some success but not in the Frozen Four there will be a lot of grumbling on this thread and we will again come to the consensus that "next year will be a critical year for the hockey staff".

ksl_sioux4ever
Should've kept the Nodak rights away from und and used the funds for nil... maybe that was the plan?

tnt
Grayden Slipec was 1st star tonight for Chicago with 2 goals and an assist with the absence of Celibrini. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come for next year when he starts getting more ice time.

tnt
I assume Hedquist was injured last game, as he had saved 28 of 28 shots, and their other goalie finished the game stopping 10 of 11. The other goalie is also playing tonight.

Frozen4sioux
Berry's contract (and I could just say any Mens Hockey Head Coach now and into the future).... Will not be bought out by the University of North Dakota...... Ever. Whether people think that good bad or indifferent is irrelevant. You are correct that it would be a nightmare scenario but Berry is such a "nice guy" who won a national title that I do not think anyone would pony up the dough. They will let his contract run out and bid him farewell.
