brianvf Posted December 5 Posted December 5 Might as well get this started I guess. Not too optimistic about the team after the last two weekends...playing four games against BSU and RMU and getting ONE regulation win will do that. https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/und-looks-to-start-the-pairwise-climb-in-oxford Quote "Obviously, we know where we're at in the Pairwise," Berry said. "It's a situation where every game is critical now. You're playing the last 20 games of the regular season — four before break and 16 after. Every game is critical. The good part is if you win games in the NCHC, it's going to improve your Pairwise, because we have really good, quality teams that have a body of work that substantiates that." And injuries...sounds like everyone that was injured will still be out except for maybe Strinden? Quote First-line center Cameron Berg will remain out with a lower-body injury. Top-pair defenseman Bennett Zmolek also will remain out longterm with a lower-body injury. A more specific timeline on Zmolek will be known before Christmas. Forward and captain Louis Jamernik V, forward Ben Strinden and defenseman Caleb MacDonald are all considered questionable. "There's a good chance Strinden will be back in the lineup," Berry said. "As far as the rest of the guys, I can't probably tell you right now, because I don't know." Seriously...what sort of ailment does Zmolek have that they haven't been able to figure out a timeline since he was injured the week after the Providence game. That was almost two months ago! They might as well just call it season-ending at this point. Quote
Oxbow6 Posted December 5 Posted December 5 This series has split written all over it. One game UND will struggle to score. Another they'll get marginal goaltending. But Miami is bad enough to win one. Last Saturday's Ralph rumor from my source, who was deep into the beers after the first period, said go back to Zmolek's missed season at Mankato. Doubts he'll play this season. Quote

TrueSioux2000 Posted December 5 Posted December 5 Brad said it best in his article with the simple line “UND’s issues have varied from night to night.” Exactly. Nobody knows what team will show up, least of all them. .500 hockey at best from here on out Quote
SIOUXELEVENS Posted December 5 Posted December 5 Wow this is the best we can hope for ? Not next man up , let’s get this done. this is getting worse then Gino’s last years. Quote
burd Posted December 5 Posted December 5 Look for an intense weekend. Both teams know they need to sweep in order to realize their goal of winning the Penrose Cup and getting a 1 seed. Quote
Big A HG Posted December 5 Posted December 5 UND squeaks out a sweep and Berry celebrates in the locker room like they won the natty, just like after beating Robert Morris. 1 Quote

Goon Posted December 5 Posted December 5 Injury list: UND is without Kaleb Johnson (indefinitely), Bennett Zmolek (indefinitely), Louis Jamernik V (questionable), Cameron Berg (week-to-week), and Caleb MacDonald, (questionable), Ben Strinden (questionable). Quote

Win and a shootout win, I’m not confident the boys can get 2 clean wins. With their level of play and injury situation, it’s just unlikely. But these days we will have to be happy to come away from Miami with 4-5 points haha. Glass half full: it smells like a weekend where unsung hero Monty is going to get 2 goals in Oxford. 1 Quote

dustnyou Posted December 5 Posted December 5 I predict two high scoring wins this weekend. Like 7-5 , 6-4 ish… Quote
brianvf Posted December 5 Author Posted December 5 I’d love to see us score 6+ goals each game but would hope our defensive effort would be better than 4+ goals allowed each game. But a win is a win at this point. Quote
SiouxFan100 Posted December 6 Posted December 6 UND to sweep. this is Miami we are talking about I think we are always better than we are Quote
siouxfaninseattle Posted December 6 Posted December 6 I'm thinking sweep too, but more like 4-2 and 3-1. 1 Quote

TwamleyShuffle Posted December 6 Posted December 6 If any of you are in Cincy for the game, I recommend Penn Station sandwiches. Quote
