The positive of hiring Fruechte is more likely to retain current players and recruits. While there is a lot of excitement about this recruiting class, don’t think that should factor in to the decision process. There are going to be more talented players available this year than probably ever before with the FBS roster limit. Plenty of opportunity to flip a program around quickly.

He could bring Rostberg with him. Just finished So. season.  6'4" 215 and ran Mattern's ROP spread at Shanley.

Or his QB commit.

All roads seem to be leading to Caruso, Baldwin, and Bolte being the finalists.

Also for what it’s worth and I know I posted this before, Caruso wanted to hire Freuchte as his OC at St. Thomas last year before UND grabbed him.  Had Landry not flipped to FU that would likely have been the staff at St. Thomas.  Maybe that doesn’t make the interim title as awkward.  Just spitballing a little more, not saying he is the guy.

It doesn’t seem that long ago when everyone was talking about needing someone young and hungry that wants to bring the fire and win.  That is actually Isaac, which is why the players are all in on him.  He has made it clear with the players already that there are changes coming and the level of intensity and aggression needs to get ramped up and ramped up hard.  It is that kind of intensity that makes me want to give him a shot. I’m not all that interested in bringing in a 50 to 60 year old coach at his last stop in a career mostly developed prior to the addition of the portal and NIL money.  My hope is that we get someone in place that understands the reality of present day college football and is so damn good we are having to look again in a few years.  At our level, that tells us we have had success in getting the right coach and will need to keep repeating the process the more success the program has.  While I get the experience level at head coach is lacking, he does have perspective from both the FBS and NFL level and not just whatever we have done at UND for the last 30 years.  I also get that he was part of a staff that did not have the success we wanted globally this year, but he managed to take an offense with an entirely decimated and inexperienced offensive line and a rookie quarterback with a whole lot lot of limitations and still put an impressive number of points on the board.  The problem this year was not the offense.  Talk to the players.  Isaac has the fire and determination to win and won’t be scared to make the changes needed to make that happen.  I really hope he gets a shot.

He’s not my favorite option but he does have a certain look in his eye. If not now, I think eventually he will be a very good head coach or coordinator. Also tough to ignore all the millennial coaches at all levels having tons of success.

Doesn’t he have a son playing FB there as well?

I like him.  His intensity is noticeable.  Only concern I have is not knowing full story on QB situation.  In some of those games a change was needed and not made. Could be a learning curve for him as well

This 100%.....^^^

Mind numbing that Jerry wasn't given an opportunity in certain situations.

I would be ok, with someone like Caruso, as long as Fruechte stays at OC. I believe he has a bright future sooner rather than later but bring in an entirely new defense!

Of the three mentioned by @Shawn-O hope it’s Caruso. Agreed, want Freuchte to stay on as OC.

Definitely would like to see him with a new HC and a bigger sample size. Would also to be what Caruso can do with scholarships. I know St. Thomas has other aid, but still not scholarships.

Offense was great and we won every game. It was an incredible season. I was surprised Bubba retired but that’s what you do when you win a national championship. I’ll be glad to keep every single coach on staff.

If one didn't shoot pool with Kauk and Gretzky at the Antique, you missed out.....until they got chewed out for acquiring quarters from the tip rail at the bar to fund their pool game.

Add shooting pool with them on Friday afternoons at the Spud to the list.
