The point is that there is no other sporting event that will provide schools like NDSU or NCCU, or UND with even close to the media coverage of a one and done appearance in the Big Dance. I won't argue this. Quote

It was a good matchup athletic wise and style wise for NDSU and most were not shocked when they won. Only need to look back earlier in the season when NDSU was completely overmatched and unable to guard a certain team in Grand Forks that year. Well, that's not what you said in OP. But yes, match ups are important and the Sooners were a relatively good match up for the Bison that year (for a #5 seed). Nevertheless, that was a good Sooner team. They proved that by making the sweet sixteen the next year and the final four 2 years later. Quote

It's easier to ignore that the 2013/14 Oklahoma team had a starting lineup that was 1 senior, 3 sophomores and a true freshman and the only other upperclassman who could even be considered a contributor averaged 6/3 in 15 minutes/game over the season. Can't imagine how that Oklahoma team got better over the next 2 years considering all 4 underclassman of that squad stuck around. As was previously stated, it was a good win, but Oklahoma was picked to be over-ranked and upset before brackets came out. Quote

God, what if that team was healthy and didn't fall physically apart in the BSC tournament? And then of course.... Brekke Quote

True and I wish it was flipped in favor of UND. But in the grand scheme of things, it appears people still don't know the difference between UND and NDSU. Quote

Popular Post northernraider Posted March 21, 2019 Popular Post Posted March 21, 2019 NCAA MBB Tournament is why basketball must be a focus for UND athletics. More people will watch the game no matter the seed than any FCS Championship game or Frozen Four Faceoff. There is no better or bigger stage for a non-FBS school then the NCAA Basketball Tournament. 6 Quote
UND1983 Posted March 21, 2019 Posted March 21, 2019 Exposure is what you do with it in the years after. As we saw with UND MBB, the exposure didn't mean much. Quote
