SiouxVolley Posted May 26, 2016 Author Posted May 26, 2016 The Big Sky and WAC meetings haven't been publicized enough to know when and where there are. Schafer was in Bismarck this week, so they must be in early June. Quote
The Sicatoka Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 Kennedy was with Schafer this week at the ND SBoHE meeting. If there are BSC meetings this week they'd probably travel and attend together (to hand things off). Quote

The Sicatoka Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 SV has posed it as "trade teams" (between WAC and BSC). Per the DI Manual, to be an FBS conference you have to play all sports together. Quote 20.02.6 Football Bowl Subdivision Conference. A conference classified as a Football Bowl Subdivision conference shall be comprised of at least eight full Football Bowl Subdivision members that satisfy all bowl subdivision requirements. An institution shall be included as one of the eight full Football Bowl Subdivision members only if the institution participates in the conference schedule in at least six men’s and eight women’s conference sponsored sports, including men’s basketball and football and three women’s team sports including women’s basketball. A conference-sponsored sport shall be a sport in which regular-season and/or championship opportunities are provided, consistent with the minimum standards identified by the applicable NCAA sport committee for automatic qualification. (Adopted: 10/31/02 effective 8/1/05, Revised: 12/15/06) Quote
SiouxVolley Posted June 2, 2016 Author Posted June 2, 2016 The Big Sky Presidents meet next week in Ogden, Utah for their annual meeting. I expect some Big Sky talk about FBS to emerge out of the meeting. All Big Sky schools that want and can afford FBS needed to officially signal the WAC and swap positions with WAC non football teams by 2018. Some Big Sky schools will need stadium expansions to go FBS, like UND. Could be a momentous week for UND. Quote

Gee just think if the NCAA would have done the rule changes you said they were going to do UND wouldnt need the WAC scenario. That is IF UND is going FBS like you said they were. 1 Quote

So, I see that the June 1st deadline has come and gone without any Big Sky schools filing the necessary re-classification paperwork with the NCAA. Care to admit that you were wrong yet again? Quote

There are years of paperwork to be done with the NCAA in order to make the move. The first deadline was June 1st in order to move up in 2018. Quote
