Before the tSL goes looking for a school they need to decide what type of conference they want to be:

1)  Status quo with Olympic sports  2)  Support Hockey?  3)  Support Football?

Based on those answers.  You start your search for the right school.  I think the tSL can afford to wait and see how things shakeout over the next year or two.

What was your favorite Western Illinois moment.

I’ll always remember Western Illinois for that guy that dropped 46 on Brady Danielson last season

Didn’t the Summit already add Lindenwood men’s soccer?

Yes and no.

The OVC announced men's soccer starting this fall. The OVC teams (including LU) playing in the Summit are going there. And now they take WIU.

Summit men's soccer is five.

Big difference between UNI and UNC, the dakotas barely belong on the same level as UNI

UNI is a regional university and the Dakotas are national universities, so yes, they don't belong on the same level.

Not sure I understand how you’re counting population here. You’ve got Chicago at 2.6m and Minneapolis/St. Paul at 4m. It looks like you are using the metro area for Minneapolis/St. Paul but just the city of Chicago?  If you use the Chicago metro area it is near 10m.

Just found this... super in-depth rundown on the history of the NCC.  Pretty incredible how often the Dakota schools have flirted with the Montanas and Idaho.  The guy has a rundown on the history of every single conference.  Edit: not every conference, but worth checking out his channel.

Honest question, ‘cuz I did not stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night…

What is the difference between UNI, UNC and UMKC and Omaha? Aren’t they basically the same except they are located in large cities, so the city becomes their name rather than UWM (University of Western Missouri) and UEN (University of Eastern Nebraska)?

umkc and un-omaha are branches of the main campuses of missouri-columbia and nebraska-lincoln....uni and unc are kinda like ndac...started as ag or teacher colleges or someting and morphed into a 4 year university over time?

Duluth and Mankato could probably go DI without football.

It is interesting to see the changes in the Summit League over the last 20 years.  Today the best ways to describe the Summit League:

  • National Research Universities (R1 or R2) - R&D Exp $25 million to $165 million
  • Flagship Universities (Rural) / Urban (Public/Private)
  • Academic Spending over $200 million to $500 million
  • US News National Rank (100 to 300)
  • Med School, Law School, or Land Grant

These are the schools that the tSL should be considering as future members.

Currently, the only outlier on this is Oral Roberts.
