Und and other institutions of higher learning, will always be concerned about their image. + The nodak logo was a very bad look. +Prior to this however, the a.d./berry had decided to bring mitchell miller in (a skilled defenseman)to join the hockey team. Problem was, he had been bullying a disabled kid for many years. This occured @ a school in ohio. This case made its way thru the courts. Miller wouldnt follow thru on the courts directives. Would not take responsibility either. A couple of nhl teams wanted to draft this kid. But th nhl commissioner ruled, miller wouldnt be allowed to play in the nhl. Still, our a.d./berry wanted the kid on our hockey team. Armacost found out about this. He also made the decision, miller wouldnt be allowed to play here. Und pres knew special interest groups would make life a living hell for und. The aclu would more than likely get involved. So, why are these events so significant? This calls into question berrys ability to make smart decisions. In addition, his integrity, ethics, poor leadership abilties, lack of common sense, lack of intelligence and honesty really take a hit. No institution can have a person in a position of leadership. The damage from these two issues would take years to recover from. Please take the time to do some research. I believe you’ll find the backstory is very clear. Berry put himself in a very bad position. Im not out to make life miserable for coach berry. I believed in him. I thought he was a great guy. I just believe the whole story needs to be told. People in positions of leadership @ und need to know there’s no free pass. To sweep any of this under the rug and try to move forward. Would be nothing short of a travesty. Und my alma mater, and my favorite sioux hockey team deserves better. I still cant believe we didnt really know who coach berry is/was. If anyone wants to attack me for what i’ve written. Please have at it. Facts are what they are. Go sioux Berry screwed up on the whole NODAK logo issue. Nobody knows for sure exactly what his involvement was but admittedly the optics are not great. He needed to be better handling this. As far as the Mitch Miller thing, UND knew his past and I think Berry thought he could bring him in and make him a part of the Sioux family and mature the kid. Again, optics not great but UND ultimately cut Miller loose. Berry is no longer head coach due to issues on and off the ice; we should be willing to leave it at that. 1 4 Quote

Did she license the NODAK name to UND for an unfair deal, or any deal? Wondering how much the Berrys’ made, if any, off the trademark? I know the optics aren’t good, but I am genuinely curious. Ive not been able to find that info. Armacost offers up some thoughts in this piece. Quote

The Miller fiasco was in 2020 and the jersey fiasco was 2022. I don't think either had a lot to do in Berry's firing. IMO, the major factors were winning one tournament game in nine years and some really poor roster management this past season, as well as not making the tournament. 3 Quote

I can only hope the KHL said... "YES YES Comrade we will give you marginal pro contract! just lick this tootsie pop we pissed on and you will have REAL pro hockey career guaranteed!" HAHA! Karma is a bitch but not a bad thing in this case Quote
Big A HG Posted yesterday at 05:13 AM Posted yesterday at 05:13 AM I like Dane and hope he succeeds. It wouldn't have been my first choice to take over the program, but I think he aligns with Hak heavily and not so much Brad...which is a good thing and why he subtly back-handed Brad throughout the presser. That doesn't mean he will accomplish what either have, so he has his work cut out for him. The thing I don't like is, I'm struggling to find a fitting meme to post after his first loss in the Fire Dane thread. 3 Quote

That’s what I thought. Brianna Berry acknowledged UND owned the trademark before she did, transferred it to UND free of charge, and UND never paid anything to the Berrys. Outside of poor optics, the NODAK controversy was really a nothing burger. Berry was simply fired for his teams’ on ice performance (or lack thereof). 4 Quote

What was Chaves looking for in that meeting or what did Berry say that made Chaves decide to fire Berry? At the same time he said he doesn't make decisions in a vacuum so that tells me he spoke about the possibility with Armacost before the meeting. I'm not totally buying everything being sold. 1 Quote
