Per 360, there will be 3 guys visiting this weekend. Hoskins (UM), Walker (SDSU), Lewis (NAU). Also… chance Sam Hagen comes back.

I was wondering about Hagen earlier. That’d be awesome!

Hope we land all three of those other transfers as well! Lewis would be a huge get. He was second team all Big Sky on a pretty good NAU team

Tell me more about "Run Away Sam" and why would we want him back.

Did he start for the Jacks last season?  I guess pulling a starter away from the Jacks would be a decent reason.

Maybe I should be thanking him as he (and Danny) likely aided in moving the program to a fresh start.  The tough part of saying this is on the personal side I like, admire, respect Bubba.  I have known both Bubba and Schmidty for a long time, it's been an interesting dynamic.  But pro-Schmidty 100%, we needed new perspective and leadership.

Bubba is a good guy, it’s just that [apparently] being a good guy doesn’t entitle you to being a good to great head football coach in 2024/25. Sometimes you have to make your own luck which involves hard decisions. The best way ain’t the easiest way.

Onward.

Schmidty is a guy to admire and respect in his own right, which everyone knows, and here’s to hoping his way is the right way for UND.

Almost done :D biggest weight room  in the Dakotas. Can live & train in a building connected to all practice facilities without having to go outside.

Truly spectacular. It all will come down to the guys in the building, now, though. But there’s no doubt this helps you get the right guys in the building (recruiting).

Win-Win

The #1 priority for Schmidt now is making this team better. Grudges will have to be set aside.

Who knows. Next couple days?

Our Athletic Department hasn't even updated the coaching staff page yet on the website. Still shows Bubba and his staff.

Bush league stuff. Lazy.

Fixed (finally).

He and Danny probably should be thanked. 2025 UND football in a much better spot than 2024 UND football.

As for Sam Hagen’s final year of eligibility, he’s staying with South Dakota St. in 2025 it seems. Oh well, UND has 4 returning starters on the offensive line, continuity at O coordinator and offensive line coach, and some decent depth.

I agree, but do wonder how the other players coming back feel about it.  Would hate to see any friction within the team.  I think Schmidt seems to have the guys buying in, so hopefully it’s a fresh start for everyone.

This isn't high school. Schmidt has to put the long-term health and vitality of the program first. That means upgrading the talent level as quickly as possible. I think Schmidt has sold his vision for the program to the players he wants to retain. The others will inevitably move on to more suitable homes.

You need friction actually. Guys need to know their ass is on the line with every rep. It’s the framing of that as a positive thing that makes the difference.

Which is opposite of what UND had the last 5-6 years.
