Popular Post nodak651 Posted November 25 Popular Post Posted November 25 McNeese AD after firing their FB coach: "With the investment we have made in our football program and facilities over the last few years, we will not accept nor celebrate mediocrity. McNeese is a special place with a rich tradition. We have one of, if not the best, fan bases in FCS football. We should be competing for SLC championships and be nationally relevant!" source Bubba: "Expectations in our program are to be in the tournament. That's the expectations I have as the head coach. We've done that four of the last six years, and I'm disappointed for the players. I thought our senior class was really awesome from January a year ago and how they led and stuck with it. I'm disappointed for those guys and entire roster." source Chaves: 3 2 Quote

Because of that...I've learned that there's a world outside of UND football in the fall (not just on Saturdays as I'm not in Grand Forks). Turns out...I much enjoy that world! It's easy to watch the games that are interesting on ESPN+...I'm not sure if I'll ever come back...and I'm definitely sure of it if we don't change course! And before any of the old timers come at me as not being loyal...save it! I've invested thousands into this program through either donations or traveling to games/having season tickets and what not. Someday it could have been millions...thankfully my views on college sports have evolved! My UND degree taught me not to throw money at a bad investment... I cashed in my CC and season tickets after last year. I came to one game this year and saved over $5000. Not coming back next year. 3 Quote
Popular Post UND-FB-FAN Posted November 26 Popular Post Posted November 26 Talk is cheap. May have to strongly consider getting rid of my tickets and tailgating spots which I’ve had for decades. I think I’ll keep them, but just not show up. Hard to say. I’m diehard, and like tradition, so I guess come September I’ll be there, but this is a disheartening day for sure. It is for most diehard UND football supporters. Just when you thought being 3rd or 4th best football program in the Dakotas perennially for over a decade couldn’t get any worse, it now has. No expectations to be great; a very similar and sad ongoing narrative indeed. 2 3 Quote

No expectations to be great; a very similar and sad ongoing narrative indeed. Same here. Had tickets for decades even through the muss mess. Haven’t purchased tickets the last years. Just went to a couple early season games and left at halftime due to combination of play and the ridiculous catwalk seating BS. Leaned on that catwalk rail since the place opened. Opposing players had the joy of listening to us all dame. Now…. It’s just deflating. Years ago …on any given Saturday we could have 20”ish” people grouped up. Lost a bunch 5 years ago and into covid. Two more guys said they won’t be renewing today. That leaves two ticket holders out of group as of today. I am an absolute und football addict …so it hurts not going and supporting the players. Attended a few spring and fall practices to see up close what kind of talent they will have. But I will say it’s been more relaxing on Saturday’s . Don’t have to witness the lostness of bubba. Since covid I had been screaming more at him than the opposing team. Wasn’t and isn’t fun. Decided to get away and go back when he’s gone. Or if he will ever be gone . See how many more extensions Chavez has in store for him. I am beyond frustrated at und “leadership” for athletics. Und has fallen so far behind all rival schools in every sport. I was hoping when I visited Siouxsports today I would find great news. Nope. Same ol same ol. 7 Quote

SiouxFan100 Posted November 26 Posted November 26 Breaks my heart to hear what UND football means to so many and the current state of affairs. I look forward to the day when we have more success. Will always be a fan but wish it was easier. Keep your head up fellow fans of UND and UND football. 1 2 Quote

In my opinion, renewing and attending games is the same as accepting the weak attempt we are currently making to look and act like a competitive fcs football program. The Pres and AD can extend contracts for a bazillion years but the sport that is the gateway to a university, is at our university...... trash. 2 3 Quote
Wilbur Posted November 26 Posted November 26 I didn't miss a game as a student at UND. Saturday football/hockey double headers are probably what I looked forward too the most when I enrolled. My wife and I were foster parents for a while. To me UND Football is like that foster kid that I loved to death and wanted great things and a better life for, but they or others just can't or won't get out of the damn way so they can be successful. You get pissed at them, but you still love em, and can't not care about their future. Fourth best team in the Dakotas. Truth hurts, but I'll still care. 2 Quote

Wilbur Posted November 26 Posted November 26 The women's soccer coach with some funny quotes in the paper about the administration. To his credit he correctly describes the current state of affairs in the UND athletics department with Mr. Chaves in charge of things. What program right now is thriving? 1 Quote
