From the first article: "Fargo police said an investigation into the incident is ongoing. Bison head coach Tim Polasek declined comment until further information is available, citing the open investigation. A spokesperson for NDSU confirmed that Pickett is a "student-athlete" at the school but referred all other questions to the Fargo police."

Looks like they got the facts and then made the appropriate decision as I would suspect any program would.

Per the NDSU Code of Conduct they can review things as "educational" matters and not wait for the legal system to act.
