Yes, for sure. If it did happen, I'm guessing it would be more to do with the players than any sort of coaching adjustments. I think we've seen that mid-season (or mid-game) coaching adjustments aren't a strong suit of ours. The longest winning streak this team has put together is four games, and that was against Miami and SCSU. Not encouraging. We'll see how the team looks tonight.... 1 Quote

One has to wonder if it is recruiting, development, or systems that are holding UND back from being better represented in postseason awards, and ultimately post season success. I tend to believe that UND doesn’t play an aggressive offensive game which explains why they have to block so many shots. Rather than being in the offensive end shooting they are always chasing. Time for a new philosophy! The odds of that happening with Berry are slim and none and slim just left town. Quote

I’m not here to defend Berry on roster management and certainly won’t complain about seeing plenty of Sacha in scoring opportunities…but he’s a minus on the season for a reason and his unforced turnovers yesterday alone created several chances late that almost got Omaha the tie — and could’ve been the difference between post season vs not. Not an easy choice for a HC with his season on the line. I know we all want our scorers out there all the time (or at least at key times) while players like Schmaltz don’t get a lot of love…but he continues to be steady/solid, had a great PPG setup for the first goal, and more goals are scored for us than against while he’s out there. May not be sexy, but outscoring your opponent in any way you can is still how games are won. I’d love to build all season to trusting your young goal scorers to show up at big moments (maybe someday), but Berry isn’t likely to change to a high risk/reward style any time soon. 1 Quote

brianvf Posted March 16 Posted March 16 6 wins left to hang #9. Gonna get tougher from here. Let's hope the boys can pull off some magic and we still have some UND games to discuss a week from now. 3 Quote

I’m starting to look at it from a seeding potential. Can they pass Mankato? Move them up to 14 seed. Without Q winning ECAC. The most UND thing possible given coaching situation would be to break through and win the Frozen Faceoff this year. I think it happens. Quote

Or, win the Frozen Faceoff, steal an at large bid from someone with our automatic qualifier status, and the team that is eliminated from this year’s tournament is Michigan. Revenge! 😆 3 Quote
AlphaMikeFoxtrot Posted March 16 Posted March 16 Puck luck, staying out of the box, and TJ at his best can keep the season going. Been too long since we played in front of a raucous crowd in Fargo. Quote

That would require 6 periods of consistent, passionate hockey; TJ playing unconscious & channeling his inner Matt Davis; winning the specialty teams; & BB outcoaching the opposition...all from a team who had 0 shots on goal in the 3rd period Friday & went goalless over 60 minutes on the weekend against a very average UNO team. Way too many things need to happen including UND winning two this weekend but with AQ's there could be a scenario where UND ends up the 12 seed. Quote
