Kab Posted November 4 Posted November 4 The only constant with the last years of screwing up is bubba coaches change, players change , AD and presidents change and bubba has not changed 1 Quote
SlowHand Posted November 4 Posted November 4 I considered the scenario of "momentarily resting his eyes", but he looks pretty settled in. Regardless, taking and posting that pic is as bad of a look as the actual photo. Quote
RhettRingers Posted November 4 Posted November 4 I've talked to a few players who will be entering the portal after the season. Both of them are skilled players who have played a meaningful number of snaps in games. Bubba isn't taken seriously and hasn't for a few years. Both of them said they looked to Danny as the head coach last year. Sad the way things played out with him because I don't think Danny is ever coming back, which I think it's in his best interest not to if he wants to climb the coaching ladder. I was looking forward to both the SD games, but I will not be attending. Something needs to change. 3 Quote

GoodGood Posted November 4 Posted November 4 This reminds me of 2021. Talked to players towards the end of that season and they had all said there wasn’t much respect for bubba in the locker room. Seems like nothing has changed Quote

I’m surprised how easy it was for so many to believe this is a team meeting (it might be). Considering how many derogatory referrals made regarding “cotton tops”, “white haired guys sitting on their fat wallets” and how we haven’t kept up with changes over time, no one seems to question the validity of the photo nor the accompanying narrative. I maybe made the assumption that most of you are more technically savvy than I and I believe that’s an accurate assumption. I looked at this and my initial reaction was similar. However, knowing how often photos show people we are photographing have their eyes closed for that split second gives me pause. Knowing how easy it is to photo shop people onto different backgrounds gives me pause. Knowing how easy it is to create advertising showing a person who has never been to NY on a corner of NY city with a stunning NY city background that doesn’t exist gives me pause. Put that together with posts by “long time follower but never previously posted” who claims inside information with allegations regarding how players and coaches feel, gives me pause. Lastly the photo when posted doesn’t actually say he was sleeping at a team meeting gives me pause. Before, some you waste time with misdirected comments, read closely what I posted so far. I’m not defending anyone. All I’m saying is this may be a photo with Bubba asleep at a team meeting, but it may not be. In today’s dysfunctional political climate the courts so far have protected the “satirical” websites that can post photos and statements that are false as long as they claim it’s satire. I would suggest that if you want change, focus on the lack of success on the field ( if we were undefeated or 8-1, no one would waste time with a photo that may or may not be accurate). What will eventually drive coaching changes ( you don’t need to repeat the rhetoric about not hiring DeBoer, multiple extensions, etc) will be the failure of the program to succeed. Unless we win out this season I don’t see us making the playoffs Deal with the issue at the end of the season. Just my opinion. IMO ..this photo was taken in part because the players /coaches are fed up with the entire situation and the fact that they cannot verbally speak out against it without repercussions? This was the outlet. Could this be another photo cropped or just a “timely” photo? Possibly but highly unlikely given some comments on here that seem to be fair and reasonable on the questioning of bubba and behind the scenes. In my own experience with talking to alumni that have played for bubba ….if there were negative comments …is was him not being a leader. Is this what they were referring to? Not sure but my guess is yes. *Given his track record this pic seems very plausible. Also. When people tell you to message Chavez or any other brass about your frustrations with the program …..that literally goes nowhere. This message board is mine and others only voice on our concerns. Writing or talking to someone in charge at und will not be heard. Think of how many messages, letters or verbal interactions they get/hear a month ? They can’t react on every single concern. They do what they think is best and have to live with that decision ….whether it was a horrible one or not. Then having a nobody like me speak up against it. In one ear and out the other. Money is the mover. It’s frustrating at so many levels. My love for UND football is swept aside with frustrating decisions to keep a coach thats shelf life expired 8 years ago. Yet I keep going to games and keep saying the same thing every year. That’s all I have. So I try and think how a player or coach could get their point across other than transferring out? I would guess they would be dealt with in the same manner. This person that took this photo possibly thought this was his only way …without confronting someone and having repercussions? Just my opinion. 2 Quote

The Sicatoka Posted November 4 Posted November 4 @nodak651 had the buyout language. Figure at least $500k. Found it: https://forum.siouxsports.com/topic/37909-2024-und-football/page/152/#comment-1385890 Quote

And who's fault is it that we have to raise that much money?!? I'm as frustrated as anyone with Bubba and where we are at as a football program...but everything that's occurred since last winter is AD malpractice in my book. If Bubba goes...Chaves should go with him imo...and at this point sooner rather than later. 3 Quote

If date is 1/1/25 it's Following 24 mos: 265 + 275 25-36 mos after date (75% of owed): 213.75 or just over $750k. Quote

If the opinions and perspectives of alumni, fans and financial supporters of the athletic department "don't matter", that is the root of the whole problem. Chaves is probably the biggest problem because he is in charge of the whole department. President Armacost is the only one who can change anything. andrew.armacost@UND.edu And if you think everything is fine as is, I guess you can send a message too. Quote

Hawkster Posted November 4 Posted November 4 22 minutes ago, Kab said: Shouldn’t be from donors should be university money But they are the first ones hit up for money. I know someone who is fairly well off and donates. He was called the day Mussman was canned and was asked about donating. I don't know if he donated or not and I didn't ask. It seemed like a sensitive subject and he didn't volunteer. 1 Quote
iramurphy Posted November 4 Posted November 4 43 minutes ago, Kab said: Shouldn’t be from donors should be university money Reality is that when fans want to fire someone before the contract is up, they usually need to provide significant funds. The contract buyout is only a part of the overall cost with a coaching change. The hiring process can be expensive. I will bet you that $500,000 to $1,000,000 isn’t in the budget to do this. Quote
