Yes, with a different coach. Thanks for agreeing with the underlying concept.

We don’t have the talent though. So what are we talking about here. They haven’t changed their recruiting strategy ever. Same approach, same results. Again and again. Small front 7, can’t stop the run. Can’t recruit DBs even though the HC used to coach DBs. Non explosive WRs. It’s a recipe for….. 7-5 every year and can’t win on the road or in the playoffs.

Agreed.  The staffs under Bubba (minus Rudy) have met a minimum threshold of X's and O's to be successful.  Our roster has had some right parts in place at various times but never enough in place at one time.

This is my opinion too. I don’t agree with theory that says we don’t recruit right players. We do but don’t land enough of our top targets.

Honestly the best team I’ve seen was 2015 last 3 games once Studsrud came back from injury. That was a more complete team with Clive going deep and the best front 7 of the D1 era by a mile.

They also said this on 360, but weird that in 11 years under Bubba that is the only team that improved during the year and was playing their best football at the end.

I'm not sure we have a defensive player that would start for the SU's.  1 or 2 tops.

Pedigo for sure. Might be a few others but I thought he was a dude when I watched him against the Bison.

Yeah,  I don’t follow you guys closely. I just remember Pedigo standing out. I was also impressed with the back end of your defense. I’m sure there’s a few guys who could play for either of the SU’s.

Offense is stacked. They might not be on the field if you follow that. There is more than a few that should be starting. I also hear chatter that’s some O and D lineman could move on either side of the ball and aren’t utilized.  Minnesota and Wisconsin player of the year both never found the field yet. Multiple lineman on both sides of the ball recruited by other big schools including the Iowa’s. Some have not found the field either. Kilty looks like a man possessed at KState. Ventrelli was best in FCS. Bryant starts at San Diego. On and on and on.

Probably looking at 8-4 with no ranked wins - guessing that would not fly here. I realize they are not eligible for the playoffs, but even if they were they would be bubble.

Rucker passes the eye test, but that's about it in my opinion. Only a sophomore though, so hopefully he keeps improving. Should show more than he does, unless they're putting him in bad spots? I see he flexes out some.

Hard to argue with that.  It still seems like are too small on D and probably not fast enough to be national contenders.  Looked like we tried to spy the Youngstown qb with a LB and he just ran away from us anyway.

Agree. It’s obvious the D is too small. We refuse to play any 300 lb D or O lineman. If you tall and are skinny and look like an outside linebacker you play interior D line here. Orlando and Beach should never come off the field except to rest. Gotta rush the ball with at least 4 or the result is we make every quick QB look like Lamar Jackson. Our 280 to 320 lb recruits never see the field. Back to offense Bo Belquist isn’t too bad either and we have 4 backs that could run for any team including FBS.

And if you start the game off with a pick 6 at this point in the season you head to the bench and out comes #11 for the rest of the year and get some competition back on this team.

4 of the 5 starting OL are 300lbs or more (the other is a 290 So) and 8 of the 12 on the 2-deep are 300 or more (anyone under that mark is a So or Fr and all are 285 or more). Not sure that argument holds water.
On the other hand, Beach is the only DL on the roster that is 300lbs or more. Not refusing 300lb DL isn't the problem, however not having any is a different story and one I'd agree with. Hoping the change in direction on the S&C side helps with that issue because it does definitely feel like UND's DE's are undersized.

Our DC got hired because the last one resigned right before last season right?  Perhaps they should have made the DC an interim and then hired a DC with a good resume after last season.

Yes O line is getting bigger. I meant more D side. Also the old O line coach was obsessed with being under sized/weight. A little more historical I should say. And the roster isn’t always accurate.

They slimmed down the first year he was here because they felt the talent wasn't were it needed to be so they thought they could play a little quicker to offset that. It failed and lasted one season before they worked on bulking them back up.

Agree on the D side. DE's need to be bigger. They also were very much in on some guys that would fit the NT position but ended up losing out on them.

Boise St. is on TV tonight. Last year we held this guy to like 65 yard or something.  This is what he had at half tonight. We hold Iowa State to 21 points. It is perplexing how we can shut a guy like Jeanty down, but then give up 200-300 yards on the ground to FCS teams and look so damn bad on defense.

Something that bugs me a bit is hearing that Simon is now on scholarship.  Editor's Note*  Love the effort he plays with, love he's a small town kid playing D1, love he worked his way to starting QB as a walk on, love he earned a scholarship and he's getting his education paid for.

The little devil on my shoulder says, "Great kid!  Good for him!  Do you like that these are the skill sets we are handing out our limited D1 scholarships to?  He can't throw it down field against a legit defense?"

Maybe time to give Jerry some time next week?
