Johnson isn’t going to be a starter. What if Hedquist isn’t ready. Just throwing it out there. He started the season slow and could one more year of JRs if he wanted to. Quote

Was on the 04 mn blades team that was beyond loaded and he was a really good player on that team. Got looks with NTDP early on too. I honestly think he had some bad injuries and it set him back big time. Yeah, wouldn't give up on him yet. If you look at Madison, none of the defensemen have great +/- numbers, but Ausmus is among the best with those playing a lot of games. Minnesota recruited Yakesh on last year, and Ausmus is on par or better than he is and is younger as well. 2 Quote

And we were really missing a left shot on the right flank for a one-timer this year although that is Gaber's spot but I would much prefer a one-time option from either side. Quote

My only concern is that he was always known as a high end offensive defensemen…offensive defensemen that don’t put up points is a bit concerning There’s also an ‘06 dman QBing their PP over Ausmus…also concerning. Have 1 F 1 D 1 G that know their roll, high character, emergency type of player. Build the remaining 14 F 7 D 2 G with as much talent as you can. Coach your talent up, stick with guys through their ups and downs. 1 Quote

Exactly - like the scouting report on Bast in that first season or two in the BCHL, dynamic offense and skating from an undersized young D. Then he went to the USHL and the offense was gone. Quote

dustnyou Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 I wouldn’t worry about Trey too much based on this season. He had hip surgery and missed most of it. Quote
brianvf Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 Expected Roster as of 3/23/23 - Going by a somewhat typical 26-man roster (15 F / 8 D / 3 G): Forwards (13) Fr - Emerson / Perron So - Blake / James / McLaughlin / Strinden / Montgomery (RS) Jr - Schmaltz / Portz / Kunz Sr - Gaber / Jamernik / Ness Defense (6) Fr - Benoit / Komzak / Wiebe / Livanavage / Strathmann Sr - Moore Goalies (2) Fr - Hedquist So - Johnson Undetermined Decision from Caulfield / Albrecht Portal and/or Recruit F - Could need 1-2 depending on what Caulfield & Albrecht do D - Need two G - Need one 1 Quote

Besides gaber there’s nothing. Team will be thin next year. There’s will definitely be minutes up for grabs. Quote

It's going to be better this upcoming year than last, but do we need 4 players (in bold) with that skill set? I'm not saying not having any but, the game is changing. There are guys (ex: 21, 28) that if they are your 4th line type of guys. Look out. You can have an offensive ceiling and be effective defensively as well. Quote

(1) What injury/injuries has he sustained that have kept him from playing? (2) If healthy, what is his ideal role/ceiling? Quote

He was finally cleared to practice for the first time with the team just a couple weeks ago in Omaha. He's a depth forward at best though. 3 Quote

InHeavenThereIsNoBeer Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 Caufield coming back feels like good stability for next year's team. An upper classman that scored double digit goals and can bang bodies. 1 1 Quote
