Two years in a row with poor 3rd down defense and defense in general. If I would guess if Bubba stays (AD does not do a buyout or he does not retire) The AD needs to demand the Defense and staff would be overhauled. USD kept coach but put in a new “O” coordinator, got new assistants like Bagnell from Mary. Their offense wasn’t great but it sure complemented their Defense.

Illinois State - Toss up - good team but at home

There you have it.  somewhere between 4-7 and 7-4.  

I was wildly wrong on the NDSU game, but in the end was pretty damn close. This team didn't play really well for an entire game after the NDSU game and in fact played many clunkers.  As Geaux Sioux said, Bubba has raised the baseline fo rNorth Dakota football but has also reached his ceiling.  5-7 wins and an first round loss is it.

But according to @Sioux>Bison, this is as good as it will ever get, so we should just put up and shut up.

And if it was up to you, USD would have fired everybody after last year.

The regression after they thumped the Bizen will forever bother me.  After that game you would have thought the program was taking another step and a deep playoff run was possible.

The coaches let that game become the season.  They never recovered from the biggest win in years....

Back into the playoffs, give up half a hundred, confuse the hell out of the fan base by not pounding the ball when that's where you're having success.

Please make some moves....somebody....please.

When you have your worst defenses in your tenure during year 9 and 10, and you are supposedly a defensive minded coach, that should say it all…

Also, when your best group of OLB’s and ILB’s during your 10 years were mainly Mussman guys, that should also say something…

Never said that actually. I’m just saying we can’t afford it. We could afford to move on to a new d coordinator and scheme. Set up Danny for a new future.

Not sure why we seemed to not want to commit to that as our offensive identity.  Most frustrating part of the season.

Cotton-tops might respect him, but the players - whom matter the most - don’t. They might give lip service that they do, but their unmotivated performances suggest otherwise.

I wonder what Bubba's FCS record would be if he coached somewhere that didn't have a significant home field advantage?  Say SIU or UNI or some other basketball school.

We aren’t experts on this site. But we were all worried about OLB and safety going into the season… Pathetic how bad these position groups have become.

100% this.. Tommy/Danny regressed this year for some reason... If you throw out the games against the lower teams the offense did not produce outside of the NDSU game and maybe the Northern Arizona game.  The offensive identity/template this year for success was pounding the rock.. just like the NDSU game.  This is why Im down on Danny this year and not sold on him as head coach of the future.. Tommy was what he was, if you werent willing to give somebody else a try then pound the rock.  If we do that yesterday we win that game even with the poorest showing by UND defense Ive just about ever seen. (Yesterday is still on the defense)
