Oh yeah. Semantics.

People want the football team to be traditional and still use interlocking.

Which I'm guessing is no longer a logo supported by UND.  It was time to get away from sharing the interlocking ND with Notre Dame.

Ad agency: SO that UND logo is due up tomorrow, let see what we got?

Ad agency team: Um...I thought it was due next week?

Ad agency: For crying out loud, what can you come up with?

Ad team: Let see...how about we use the Burlington northern logo, photo shop in the Atlanta Hawks logo......change the colors. And Whala!...

Ad agency: WTF...that's awesome! Let's go cash that check

$50,000 bucks. I think that UND graphic design students could have done the same thing in about a week.

You're putting faith in students? The same students that voted for the Fighting Hawks name?

So not only lose the Fighting Sioux but also the logo I have always cheered for on the UND football helmets....FML!

That was the one saving grace in all this.

voted for fighting hawks out of Roughriders, North Stars, Nodaks, and Sun Dogs. Lets not pretend like they had a ton of choices.

So if nobody buys the merchandise, can we start the logo process over?

Agreed.  Nice thing is it doesn't look stupid, IMO, so that's good.  But not terribly inspiring either.   I'd rather have the image itself vs. the ND tacked on to it.  That doesn't really appear congruous

Boring is better than obnoxiously hideous

SME going to refund some of the development money for this thing?  Must have taken them at least a couple hours.

Agree - taken to the bank - Epic Fail  - like a previous post said:

Lame and generic, just like everything else associated with this process

No. Per Bubba, they will have this new atrocity on their helmets this coming season.  I guess technically there is an N and D somewhere in that logo (arguably), but you can't dispute that this is a remarkable departure for the football team, which has used pretty much the same logo on its helmet since 1969.  And before that, they just had numbers on the helmets.  The football team has never incorporated the nickname logo on to its helmet.  It's disappointing that they will use this new logo to do so.

It'll look fine.

Just win with whatever damn thing is on the helmet. At least the colors will/should match ...
