1.  If you don't like us why are you here every day.   2.  Even though many NDSU people hate to admit it, many NDSU fans were excited about the UND-NDSU game this year.  Just wait until next time when the game is more evenly matched it will be even more exciting.  Who do you think years down the road your players will remember playing during the regular season......Weber State/SDSU........or UND.  I'm guessing they will look back at those UND games. I think every other year would be good, 4 years apart is too much....hard to build or hold a rivalry if rarely play.

I see you didnt read or comprehend the IMO part? IMO doesnt mean its my belief. Even though some of the asshattery is.:)

Ive always stated the the game should be played. As Ive already done in this thread.

NDSU has set it self up for a real nice bandwagon fan dissolution once they start to lose. Why wouldn't you want an annual home-and-home in-state rivalry game that outdraws every other game in both attendance and popularity? NDSU's football program is very good, but there's no question they have a huge target on their back. Not sure when the meltdown will occur, but it is inevitable given some the behind-the-scenes rhetoric.

I admit I am horribly biased, but there is a fairly consistent precedent where college football dynasties eventually crash hard.

Here are a few theories on what will happen: http://www.teamspeedkills.com/2013/1/9/3855934/alabama-football-dynasty-fall

How many times do we have to go over the fact that GT was the one who kept changing the terms of the deals even after they were accepted and the Fargo media was the one that kept asking questions about the games being scheduled? Not to mention there doesn't seem to be an issue scheduling any other sport. And I'd love to hear more about UND and its culture. They sure didn't have a problem charging fans the highest price ever for a single game ticket against such an unworthy opponent.

Fact--if Faison would have accepted the first offer which was a home and home instead of demanding a game every year we would be talking about the next game. Thats a fact.

Now grated after that GT played you pretty good. But BF didnt help with his side of the negotiation by waiting for a long period of time so when he finally did accept one of the proposals the landscape had changed and then so did our offer.

IMO every other year would be the perfect compromise and setup.  Playing every other year would keep interest in the rivalry and for guys that didn't get to see the field until they were Juniors or Seniors would at least get to play in the game.  It would also give that off year more room for flexibility for scheduling whomever for both sides.

I think historical powerhouse is a little bit of a stretch. Won a title in 2003 and since then have only had 3 playoff appearances (losing in the title game twice). Since losing in the championship game in 2010, Delaware is 29-28 over the last 5 seasons with 0 playoff appearances, finishing no higher than 5th in the CAA in that time frame. They were a consistent playoff team in the mid/late 80's to mid/late 90's.

UND is 28-28 over the last 5 season with 0 playoff appearances (only being eligible for 4 of those years, 2011 was final season of transition and well, whatever last year was).

Deleware was a power house in the 70-80s. Cant say how they did after that.

Weve caught lightening in a bottle. Most realize that the championship run cant last forever. But weve only had 3 losing seasons since 1964. So the drop off shouldnt be catastrophic.

Fact? Doubtful, they were still negotiating with little to no intention of actually agreeing to anything on GT's end. When BF accepted the offer that was on the table and sent it back to GT, he refused to sign it and started changing terms again.

I think they should play every other year, rotating venues. Every player gets to play in 2 games, one at each venue. Seems pretty simple and logical to me.

Yet how many bandwagon fans have you gained after the last 6 years? 100% more 50%? Once the playoff success goes away will you retain those fans? I see not. A majority of the people in the state want this game every year just like it used to be and just like it should be.

I guess my disgust with this all is pretty straightforward: once NDSU loses in the playoffs (or perhaps twice over a couple seasons), their expectations and egos will fall to the point where UND will finally be viewed as a viable scheduling target. It's upsetting that NDSU is so conceited that they will lie about their scheduling strategy just to allow them (administration, fans, boosters, etc.) to live in their own dreamland (one where NDSU football is so superior it should function independently of a 100+ year rival).

I am fairly certain that NDSU's stance on scheduling UND (has nothing to do with FCS terms; it's purely UND) will change once they stop winning national championships in the next year or two.

We were still averaging 14-16k fans before the championship run. I cant see how you can say we will see that much of a huge drop.

I agree there are many fans that want to see this game.  Many NDSU fans want it as well.

He didnt ask. He Demanded. If he wouldnt have done that the game would have been played long before it did.

From a good source close to the situation at NDSU - Taylor and Chapman stated they would not play UND in football under their watch regardless of the situation.  Demanded, asked, every year, every other year....... none of it mattered when those two were in charge.

They only reason they are playing at all is that Taylor changed the terms one last time (reduced the payout) and threw out one more offer that he figured would be unacceptable to UND on his way out the door.  It was only done for spite.  To his surprise Bubba told Faison to take it.

I think the quote was-- we wouldnt be going to GF on there watch. which  was after BF demanded every year and then started negotiating through the media. Fact is if he would have taken the first deal it would have been done. BF handcuffed you guys.

We will see if NDSU thinks they are too good to play a low life like UND when they start having mediocre seasons. They will be crawling back sooner or later!

its the typical NDSU vibe of thinking they are superior to every one else, explains who their fans think they can compete in a big 12 type of league. Keep dreaming!

Since coming up to UND as an outsider from the state three years ago, I've noticed quite the Napoleon complex they have down south.

I have been following FCS/1-AA football since the late 90's, any long term fan of this level would put them on the list of "historical powerhouses". I'd even go as far as to sat If you don't put Delaware on the list of historical powerhouses then you don't know FCS/I-aa football. Only 5 teams in FCS/I-aa football history have more championship game appearances than Delaware. 15 playoff appearances all time. As a reference, Georgia southern(considered the most dominant program at this levels history has 19). I simply can't fathom a fan of football not putting Delaware on a list of one of the best(top 10 for sure, Probably more like top 7)football programs at this level all time.

Hate on my post if you must(not directed at you 73) but NDSU has set it clear scheduling guidelines and playing an every year game with a non conference school flat out doesn't make sense. In my ideal world this game is played every year, but ndsu and und are in the same conference.

i think if the roles were reversed UND fans would be singing a different tune.

meant to quote the person you quoted 73 too, but I'm on my phone and tech illiterate :)

The statement from Taylor to my NDSU guy was that NDSU wouldn't schedule UND in football as long as Taylor and Chapman were at SU.  Nothing about GF, Fargo or any other location.

Yeah I don't think your game attendance will go down drastically for a while unless you see losing seasons which is not very likely. When I talk about your bandwagon fans I am talking about the casual fans that watch maybe a few games a year and think they are real Bison fans. They are the same people who travel to Frisco but never attend a previous NDSU game all year. They also could not name a NDSU coach or player from the 90's or 00's.

I wish those bison fans would push NDSU for an annual game. I wouldn't care if UND lost 10 straight the game still needs to happen.

Don't buy the distraction folks. And Delaware is just that, a useful distraction by the NDSU AD to give cover to Bresciani's issue with the ND SBoHE.

If both school were FBS with a 12 game schedule it would be much easier.  With an 11 game sch, not so much.  Just the way it is.

If we are in need of games against NDSU SDSU and USD we should join the MVFC and the Summit. Both make more sense for us, a lot more.

Is that an option?   It hasn't been in the past.

Patty V just said within the last week or two that the MVFC has zero interest or intention of adding any additional teams, so I'm going to go with no, it still is not an option.
